Big League Food Company is seeking a Service Technician to join our Detour Coffee team. **Position Summary**

The **Espresso Machine & Café Equipment Technician** plays a key role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and longevity of specialty coffee equipment. This position involves the installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of espresso machines, grinders, water filtration systems, and other café-related equipment. The technician will work both independently and as part of a team, on and off-site to support customers in delivering exceptional coffee experiences. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a customer-focused approach.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Install, maintain, and repair espresso machines, coffee grinders, and other specialty beverage equipment in cafés and related facilities.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment operates at peak performance and meets quality standards.
- Troubleshoot technical issues, diagnose faults, and carry out necessary repairs, including programming and calibration of equipment.
- Identify defective components and replace parts as needed, ensuring mínimal downtime for customers.
- Install, test, and maintain water filtration systems to ensure beverage quality and equipment longevity.
- Manage and maintain parts inventory, including ordering and restocking as required.
- Interpret and work from technical documents, including equipment diagrams, wiring layouts, and electrical schematics.
- Maintain accurate service records, including work performed, parts used, and equipment status.
- Communicate effectively with clients to explain equipment issues, maintenance needs, and repair timelines.
- Adhere to all workplace safety procedures, manufacturer guidelines, and company standards.
- Perform other cafe maintenance related duties as assigned by the Lead Service Manager or Operations Manager.

**Required Skills & Qualifications**
- Experience in servicing espresso machines, coffee grinders, and related café equipment is an asset.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment diagrams, wiring schematics, and technical manuals.
- Willingness to learn how to program and calibrate espresso machines.
- Understanding of water filtration systems and their installation/maintenance.
- Effective time management and organizational skills to handle multiple service calls..
- Excellent communication skills to explain technical issues to non-technical clients.
- Ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment safely (up to 50lbs) required.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Flexibility to work on-site at client locations, occasionally outside standard business hours required.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company policies.

**Preferred**
- Certification from espresso machine manufacturers (e.g., La Marzocco, Nuova Simonelli, Victoria Arduino, Slayer, etc.)
- Previous experience in a repair & maintenance related environment

**Must Haves**
- Valid G-class Drivers License and be comfortable driving in the GTA and Southern Ontario.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic knowledge of the machinery used in the industry.
- Physical ability for lifting machinery.
- Able to work well independently.
- Strong problem solving skills.

Pay: $40,000.00-$45,000.00 per year
