**Some of what you will do**
As a Pricing Analyst for Staples, you will provide analytical and strategic support to the Sales, Pricing, and Merchandising teams to empower business leaders to make timely and well-informed pricing decisions. This will be accomplished using pricing and cost to serve modelling, analytics, legal agreement reviews, and working internal and external parties to obtain the best possible costing. The analyst will be required to work with multiple departments at all levels to present relevant information to the senior leadership team and ensure pricing activities are implemented to assist the business in achieving EBITDA targets.
**Specifically, You Will**
- Retention, penetration, and acquisition related activities on accounts to drive Staples Professional revenue and margin initiatives;
- Account modelling to forecast business costs related to existing or newly acquired account;
- Review of legal agreements to assist the sales team in developing a market strategy for the account including highlighting high-risk factors accompanied by mitigation recommendations for group discussion or escalation;
- Use pricing analytics to provide strategic recommendations to sales team;
- Prepare data for use by sales to present pricing information to the customer including explaining pricing rationale, price levels, pricing levers, and providing supporting documentation as required;
- Independently develop a product and pricing solution based on qualitative and quantitative customer information;
- Responsible for ensuring that sales margins on pricing activities are within approved levels;
- Demonstrates innovation in strategy through the alignment of pricing solution to the customer’s financial evaluation;
- Find more efficient methods of pricing and work with the manager to assess feasibility of solution;
- Be able to adjust quickly and efficiently to the evolving requirements of the business such as new margin targets, revenue strategies, technologies, product assortment, etc.;
- Align objectives and activities with strategic business goals;
- Assist the business in achieving EBITDA targets through pricing related activities.
- Facilitate conference calls with key stakeholders including Sales Directors, Merchandising team and Senior Leadership to proactively suggest and present strategies related to the opportunity/activity in adherence to pricing approval guidelines and to make the sales team aware of any potential roadblocks to completing the pricing activity;
- Identify key risks in opportunities and highlight for the sales team and management;
- Working with other teams throughout the customer life cycle on different pricing activities including penetration of existing accounts, inflation recovery, account reviews, margin improvement activities, ad-hoc reporting and analysis, re-acquisition, etc.;
- Use proprietary tools to create and submit pricing strategies for customers;
- Collaborate with our Internal Customers to share best practices with other departments at all levels;
- Daily interaction with Sales, Sales Managers and Directors, LOB Specialists, Furniture Designers, Furniture Operations, Category Managers, Pricing Manager, Proposal Manager, Proposal Specialists and Pricing analysts;
- Frequent interaction with Senior Leadership Team;
- Frequent interaction with vendors, distributors, manufacturers, and customers.
- Maintain multiple databases including legal agreements, competitor cross reference, competitive price information, etc.;
- Work outside the existing tools to assist the management team in any type of ad-hoc activity required for business solutions or planning including developing easy-to-use reports for complex datasets.
- Prepare all relevant documents to implement the strategy on the account through working with the implementation teams, merchandising teams, cost claims teams, and other teams as necessary;
