As a Cook and Server on our team, you’ll be responsible for serving food and assisting with other miscellaneous tasks.
As Cafeteria Cook, you will assist in the daily operations of the kitchen, to ensure that the highest quality of cuisine is served to Hill Academy students and staff.
**Cafeteria Cook & Server Responsibilities**
- Participate in the major cooking, baking and serving tasks.
- Completes hot meal preparation by grilling, sautéing, roasting, frying, and broiling ingredients and assembling and refrigerating cold ingredients.
- Maintain proper sanitary conditions to meet health codes, including the cleaning of utensils, equipment and facilities; assure the proper storage of food
- Establish needed quantities; maintain inventory
- Lift heavy containers of food and supplies
- Food preparation: Oversee food preparation and cooking activities and cleanup
- Ensure dishes meet quality standards, making adjustments as needed based on the availability of ingredients
- Ensure food is fresh and of high quality, inspecting raw and cooked foods, and monitor sanitation practices
- Safety: Ensure kitchen safety standards are followed and make sure that all kitchen and wait staff adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations to ensure a clean and sanitary kitchen
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to align kitchen operations with the overarching goals of the establishment; optimize menu offerings, improve operational efficiency and assist implementing suggestions
- Serves food and beverage to Hill Academy students/staff
- Maintains knowledge of menu items and all other offerings
- Maintains appearance and cleanliness of food service areas during meals
- Replenishes food and beverage product
- Provides excellent customer service
- Breaks down and cleans/sanitizes food service areas, workstations, and equipment
- Maintains a positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
- Adheres to Hill Academy safety policies and procedures including proper food safety and sanitation
- Clean-up and Dishwashing as needed
- Performs other related duties as assigned
**Cafeteria Cook Requirements and Qualifications**
- Experience in using different cooking tools, equipment, and utensils
- Knowledge of various cooking methods and procedures
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Understanding of food preparation techniques
- Able to withstand long hours of standing, bending, and moving around
- Basic knowledge of mathematics to make correct measurements of ingredients
- Ability to follow recipe instructions
