**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Fitness and Wellness Programs, the incumbent is responsible for the administration and implementation of the Fitness and Aquatics programs and other relevant programs/events that foster student/faculty/community engagement in the Department of Recreation and Athletics.
The incumbent provides leadership and supervision to a large number of part-time casual and
student employees who assist in the delivery of programs related to the operation of fitness and aquatics programs.
**Qualifications**:
**The incumbent must possess the following qualifications**:
- The incumbent must have work-related experience in an Aquatics environment and preferably knowledge of the Fitness Industry.
- Must be able to familiarize themselves with all departmental user regulations, programs and operational policies, and software systems in order to keep staff, public and teams well informed.
- Must be completely familiar with all aspects of the Ontario Public Health Regulations for Public Swimming Pools.
- Good working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft office.
- Experience and demonstrated ability to train, supervise and motivate casual staff.
- Strong interpersonal skills are necessary to interact with administration at various levels, other professionals, as well as the general public.
- Very familiar with the part time staff training, policies and procedures, emergency protocols and risk management for aquatics and fitness programs.
- Must be service-oriented and be capable of dealing with a wide variety of constituents.
- Must be highly skilled in delivering and implementing innovative and stimulating programs.
- A high degree of independence, allowing for initiatives to develop flexibly, quickly and appropriately.
- A proven ability to elicit and foster trust, develop positive working relationships and work effectively with other allied health professionals.
- Ability to exercise discretion, good judgement, and solid decision-making.
- Strong organizational skills and time management abilities are essential.
- The incumbent must be result oriented, assuming responsibility for implementation and completion of projects/initiatives.
- Since this position has the requirement to work regular evenings and some weekends, the ability to work flexible hours as scheduled.
**Education and Experience**:
**The above is normally acquired through the completion of**:
- Completion of a two-year college program in a related field, plus Group Fitness and Personal Training, National Lifeguard, Standard First Aid, CPR AED, Red Cross Water Safety Instructors, Lifesaving Instructors (LSI/EFAI).
- Three years of recreational programs experience; including customer service experience and supervising a large number of part time casual staff working at an indoor class “A” pool.
