We have an exciting opportunity for **Student Support Worker** **to join our Youth Development Team This role is a contract position that will end August 31, 2025.

The Student Support Worker supports program participants by providing individual, academic, social and financial supports to help students attain the skills needed to successfully navigate school, community and social resources.

In this role you will build relationships with students and their families. Our Student Support Workers monitor student progress and offer suitable referrals for students and their families both within Camino and to other support agencies, including schools and social/recreational programs.

**WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING**:

- Establish and maintain positive, effective and supportive relationships with schools, community centres, and volunteers through regular contact and communication
- Where appropriate and needed, develop and/or facilitate programs that provide an academic and/or social experiential learning opportunity for students (e.g., social programming sites, tutoring sites)
- Oversee the operation of a programming site by managing student behaviour, resolving and/or reporting incident or issues involving students, volunteers or facilities per defined policies and procedures, and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
- Organize space, routines and materials daily for academic or social programming based on specific requirements of the space, needs of the community, and familiarity with youth in program
- Organizing daily transportation of programming supplies and technology to and from the site
- Model for volunteers the skills and techniques for positively engaging students in a variety of settings, providing suggestions and support when necessary.
- Attend programming team meetings to maintain connections with your teams and to plan ahead

**WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR**:

- Minimum 2 years of experience working with children and/or youth and their families
- Ability to support youth with special needs, youth at risk and youth from low income and/or culturally diverse communities
- The ability and drive to develop programming for high school aged students
- A valid driver’s license with access to a vehicle
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn and be an exceptional team player
- This role requires availability to work evenings to meet the ongoing needs of students and their families. Some weekend work and working beyond the regular work schedule may be required from time to time.

**ARE THERE BONUS POINTS?**

- Fluency in languages spoken within the communities we serve (e.g. Arabic, Spanish)

**ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD **KNOW?**
- We are hiring for a full time contract that will end August 31, 2025
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Satisfactory criminal record check for vulnerable sector
- Must be able to provide either proof of COVID vaccination or documentation providing a satisfactory reason under the Ontario Human Rights Code for not being vaccinated
- This role requires availability to work evenings to meet the ongoing needs of students and their families. Some weekend work and working beyond the regular work schedule may be required from time to time.
- Wage: This role is a Practicing Professional 2 (PS4) and the hourly pay range is $26.33 - $36.74
