**Compensation**:$22.00 hour, Health Benefits Package, 10 days paid holiday with additional 5 days during the annual year-end closure.
**Hours of work**:Full-time, permanent, 35 hours week.
**Fort Steele Heritage Town** is a living history site dedicated to the preservation, interpretation, and enhancement of British Columbia’s rich heritage. Fort Steele serves as a cultural and educational resource, engaging visitors in the stories, traditions, and historical significance of the Region. The Site is supported by the Cranbrook Archives, Museum and Landmark Society and its Executive Management Team which provides strategic direction, development and funding to achieve the site’s mandate. **Position Summary**
The Events and Rentals Coordinator have the opportunity to develop, plan, and execute engaging events and a vibrant rentals program at Fort Steele Heritage Town. Working closely with the Operations Supervisor, and Food and Beverage Coordinator, this position is responsible for creating unique, high-quality experiences for visitors and rental clients, maximizing event attendance and rental revenue, and ensuring seamless delivery of all site-based events and rental activities. This position requires an organized and customer-service oriented leader with a hands-on approach to working with customers and staff.
**Position Duties and Responsibilities**
- Contribute to the conceptualization, planning, and execution of public, private, and signature events that align with Fort Steele’s mission and enhance visitor engagement.
- Develop annual and seasonal event calendars, incorporating community input and historical themes.
- Coordinate logistics for events, including scheduling, staffing, vendor management, set-up, and tear-down.
- Collaborate with marketing staff to promote events, maximize attendance, and ensure consistent branding.
- Evaluate event success through feedback, attendance data, and financial performance, and use insights to improve future programming.
- Assist with end of day financial and daily visitation reporting.
- Provide retail support across multiple locations, including the Visitor Centre, and Kershaw's General Store. Requires accurate and reliable cash handling and point of sale operation.
- Assist the Operations Supervisor in developing and mentoring the Visitor Services team, fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture aligned with CAMAL’s mission and values.
- Oversee all aspects of the rentals program, including venue bookings, client communications, contract management, and on-site supervision.
- Ensure rental clients receive exceptional service from initial inquiry through event completion, including venue tours, planning assistance, and day-of coordination.
**Knowledge and Experience**
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Tourism Management, Event Management) OR a combination of education and experience in tourism, hospitality, or related field.
- Minimum two (2) years of progressive work experience in a event management role, preferably in a non-profit or tourism destination environment.
- Understanding of how to create exceptional customer experiences.
- An understanding of Indigenous relations in this region; additionally, familiarity with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the relevant Calls to Action for Museums is an asset. This knowledge can be through education, lived or worked experience.
- Valid driver’s license
**Abilities and Skills**
- Excellent communication skills, and comfortable with diverse clients and visitors.
- Point-of-Sale skills and cash handling an asset.
- Ability to follow directions and adjust to changing policies and procedures.
- Computer proficiency an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills required.
- Some supervisory and leadership experience.
- Strength and mobility to stand for extended periods, work an active 8 hour shift, work outside, navigate stairs and lift weights up to 25 kilograms.
