Description:
As a Chemical Process Technician at our Burlington, Ontario plant, you will be responsible for the manufacturing and packaging of process chemicals. This position may require overtime.

**Desired Experience** - Seeking a safety conscious person with prior experience in chemical manufacturing preferred; ability to safely operate a powered industrial Fork truck; knowledge of TDG regulations and mechanical troubleshooting helpful but can train.

**Skills** - Excellent communication and organizational skills, a sense of urgency with the ability to prioritize work, and the mind-set for safety and attention to detail. Ability to work as a strong team member in a high performance team environment. Ability to perform manual labor including walking up and down stairs, lifting and carrying objects up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.

**Working Conditions** - Noisy and dusty environments, wet floors, outdoor and indoor seasonal heat and cold, hazardous chemicals and chemical odours. Must wear safety shoes, hard hat and safety glasses and other task specific PPE such as negative pressure respirators.

**Principal Accountabilities/ Activities**:

- Work with other production staff to meet daily production through charging raw materials and overseeing the production process to manufacture finished product.
- Meet shipping needs by loading tanker trucks with finished product for shipments to customers
- Perform bench top analysis to verify in-process product quality using standard test methods
- Record data carefully and completely in both written and electronic formats
- Communicate accurately, precisely, timely and completely
- Maintain equipment through routine calibration and preventative maintenance activities to include area inspections, equipment inspections and entry of work orders as needed
- Participate on plant teams as requested
- Maintain safety and order of work area through daily housekeeping activities
- Handle all chemicals and waste (hazardous and nonhazardous) in accordance to WHMIS and other applicable regulations.
- Mandatory requirement to join United Steelworkers Union

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent required as a minimum
- Chemical manufacturing experience
- Fork truck handling experience
