**Job Summary**

The Housekeeper reports to the Services Manager. This position is responsible for providing cleaning services for the Community Members’ suites and the common areas of the

Community. Delivering services utilizing the culture service standards, Orange Dot values, vision and mission of VVA Retirement Communities.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Operations**
- Ensure the delivery of services required by Community Members utilizing the Service

Culture Standards.
- Follows cleaning schedule (daily, weekly, monthly) as outlined for housekeeping department
- Cleans floors, dry mops, wet mops. Sweeps, disinfects where and when necessary.

Performs emergency housekeeping when accidents occur
- Cleans movable and stationary furnishings and fixtures, dusts, spot cleans or washes, disinfects when necessary, polishes where required, changes slip covers, doilies etc when soiled. Cleans ledges, shelves, vents, etc
- Empties and cleans ashtrays, waste baskets (including relining). Disposes of garbage
- Straightens and rearranges furnishings as directed, Inspects furnishings for wear and defects and reports to their supervisor.
- Cleans bathrooms (private, public, and staff). Cleans and disinfects all fixtures, floors and walls as directed. Washes windows and mirrors. Replenishes bathroom supplies.
- Performs cleaning duties according to established procedures in suites upon move-out and prepares for new occupant.
- Reports observations to supervisor concerning structural, health and safety and equipment wear, defects and malfunctions.
- Fosters customer satisfaction at all times
- Washes, folds, irons and delivers laundry as required
- Ensures that documentation, checklists, will be kept up to date on every Community
- Ensures issue resolution relating to Housekeeping Services are followed through with in cooperation with Community Members, families, other VVA Team Members. This includes referring Community Members and families to the Services Manager should they require additional services not within their present service package.
- Conduct monthly, quarterly and annual audits as requested by the Services Manager
- Report any undesired behaviours, signs or symptoms that may attribute to the decline of general wellness of the Community Members.
- Ensures that effective Infection Control protocols are in place and followed at all times.

Increasing protocols when needed i.e. outbreak
- Request all needed education to maximize knowledge that will increase effective working environment
- Other projects and responsibilities as assigned

**Business Planning & Monitoring**
- Attends and contributes to all Service department meetings and applicable Community meetings i.e. town hall
- Assists the Services Manager with developing departmental goals by providing input regarding the department, VVA operations, talent and training plan and Health &
Safety/Risk plan
- Implements, monitors, and achieves all approved departmental goals as set out

**Qualifications**
- Ability to communicate clearly with peers and subordinates.
- Ability to manage their time effectively with little supervision
- Up to date police check-vulnerable sector
- Ability to work as a Team Member, understanding the priorities of others
- Able to bend, stretch, sit, kneel, stand and work with arms raised for long periods. Able to lift a maximum of 50 lbs
- Ability to work flexible hours and weekends
- Available for call-ins
- Some experience with seniors is desired
- Knowledge in MS office (outlook, word, excel)
- Up to date police check-vulnerable sector
- verified annually
