**BARISTA**

Waves Coffee House baristas carry out several customer service-oriented job responsibilities. Baristas greet customers, take food and drink orders, prepare menu items, and answer questions about policies, menus, and services. Applicants with experience using coffee and kitchen-related equipment typically receive additional hiring consideration over other applicants. Personable and friendly attitudes also benefit prospective employees. The position often features the ability to earn gratuities and increases in pay based on performance and time spent with the company.

**Requirements & Competencies**:

- Receive and process customer payments.
- Prepare or serve hot or cold beverages, such as coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees, or teas.
- Take customer orders and convey them to other employees for preparation.
- Clean or sanitize work areas, utensils, or equipment.
- Describe menu items to customers or suggest products that might appeal to them.
- Clean service or seating areas. Serve prepared foods, such as muffins, biscotti, or bagels.
- Prepare or serve menu items, such as sandwiches or salads.
- Weigh, grind, or pack coffee beans for customers.
- Stock customer service stations with paper products or beverage preparation items.
- Provide customers with product details, such as coffee blend or preparation descriptions.
- Take out garbages.
- Order, receive, or stock supplies or retail products. Slice fruits, vegetables, desserts, or meats for use in foodservice.
- Check temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, or heating equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Demonstrate the use of retail equipment, such as espresso machines.

**Qualifications and Physical Demands/Working Conditions**(In compliance with the store’s Health and Safety Policies and Procedures):
**Minimum 1 years cafe (Barista, Supervisor) work experience**

Standing/walking for 6-8 hours

Great Customer Service skills are a must.

Lifting and/or carrying of merchandise items, as required, on a regular, frequent, and unassisted basis. Merchandise items may vary in weight from “light” to “heavy”.

Part-time/Full-time hours: 35-40 per week

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $16.00-$17.00 per hour (based on related experience)
