Toronto, Canada Oxbotica Full time

**Who are we?**

Oxbotica is an international startup founded in 2014 and scaling up rapidly across the UK, Canada and the US. As the global leader in autonomous vehicle software for businesses, we are fuelled by a bold purpose: to make the Earth move better. From passenger shuttles to industrial vehicles, our operating system for Universal Autonomy is transforming the way people and goods are transported by enabling any vehicle, in any environment, to operate autonomously — safely, securely and efficiently.

Our technology is also capturing investors’ imagination. As announced in January this year, to date we’ve raised $140 million in our Series C investment round. Accommodating growing demand from new and current shareholders, this funding is driving Oxbotica’s geographical expansion in North America, EMEA and APAC, and accelerating the deployment of our technology in domains where there is both urgent need and potential to scale.

**Requirements**:
**The Role**:
Systems Performance is a family of enabling / platform discipline teams that are responsible for end-to-end performance of our reference autonomy system. This includes hardware selection (i.e., sensors & compute) to software optimisation and, most importantly, the tools and platforms necessary to enable all teams to measure key metrics for performance. As a leader of many, your role will be to coach, mentor, train, advocate for, support, and help foster growth of our teams in all dimensions.

Oxbotica’s Customer Autonomy (CA) teams are supported by a Universal Autonomy (UA) platform. As Lead of Systems Performance, you will ultimately be accountable for ensuring the team remains aligned to a technical roadmap that serves both our UA and CA Streams. This will require a deep understanding of our products and customers - one of the core tenants at the heart of Oxbotica.

- Training: Training (both active and passive) on tools and practices related to compute performance.
- Audits: Scheduled and On-Demand audits of compute performance to keep teams informed.
- Assistance: Expertise as needed to help teams achieve peak performance.
- Reference Autonomy System: Development of a reference autonomy platform (hardware + software) for verification and validation.

**Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for mentoring, coaching, training, and supporting the team in their professional, technical, and career development.
- Accountable for ensuring that all teams stay aligned to an internal technical roadmap.
- Ensuring the technical roadmap is architected to serve the needs of our UA / CA Streams.
- Accountable for maintaining and developing core performance monitoring tools that span both hardware and software (e.g., messaging rate monitoring, CPU/GPU performance monitoring, network, power, etc.)
- Able to foster a culture around developing high-performance, production-quality systems and establishing training / seminars to disseminate across the business.
- Responsible for ensuring that all teams are adhering to development best practices and constantly raising this bar.
- Embodying and teaching our family members about the value of our Leadership Principles (LPs).
- Ensuring that the family is receiving world-class Engineering Experience, in the form of Learning & Development (L&D) programmes, team-building / growth exercises, and technical tools / platforms to accelerate our development.
- Reporting on team progress via a 2x2s with metrics around team delivery, health, and technology.
- Coordinating and facilitating alignment meetings / reviews with team leads.
- Coordinating / assisting SAT Leads on performance reviews, as well as performance reviews for anyone on the team not represented in SATs.
- Immediately addressing and resolving any issues impacting the team (e.g., technical, organisational, or people-related.)

**What you will need to succeed**:

- Strong alignment with all of Oxbotica’s Leadership Principles.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written), with a particular emphasis on documentation / reporting at a high-level of proficiency.
- Demonstrable experience in managing / facilitating teams in complex software engineering / systems environments, within a company that has a growth mindset.
- A deep understanding of how the technologies being developed deliver value to the customer, with an ability to communicate this to the broader team.
- Demonstrable experience in thinking laterally, spotting technical & process gaps, unblocking, and resolving.
- Managed large teams in the past, responsible for delivery of products and/or complex systems.
- A deep understanding of robotics as a system.
- Significant experience in software development and delivery.
