**Job Purpose**

The Steamfitter/ Pipefitter may lay out, assemble, fabricate, maintain and repair piping systems which carry water, steam, chemicals or fuel used in heating, cooling, lubricating and other processes. Steamfitter/ Pipefitter's also remove and replace worn components, do general maintenance work and may work on plant shutdowns.

**Responsibilities**:

- Display a commitment to Waiward’s incident-free vision, values, and culture.
- Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the type of pipe and tools to use, and lay out the sequence of tasks.
- Measure, cut, thread, groove, bend, assemble and install metal, plastic and fiberglass pipes, valves and fittings.
- Join pipe sections, related equipment and secure in position.
- Use testing equipment effectively to check for system leaks and troubleshoot fitting errors.
- Read and understand complex instructions and drawings.

Qualifications:

- Must be a registered apprentice or an Alberta-certified journeyperson, hold a valid recognized credential, or possess the skills and knowledge expected of a Journeyperson.
- Basic Rigging Course an asset
- Experience working with alloys an asset
- Certified Overhead Crane Operator an asset
- WHMIS.
- CSTS-2020 required
- CSO/BSO/OSSA REGIONAL required
- ESC/BTA/OSSA FALL PROTECTION required
- ESC/BTA/OSSA EWP TRAINING required
- ESC/BTA/OSSA CONFINED SPACE AND ENTRY required
- Experience working in a live and operating facility
- Possess a valid class 5 - Optional
