The Manager of Outreach Services reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for supervising and overseeing the Outreach Department.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
1. Assists the Executive Director in setting annual goals, objectives, supports, and services for the Outreach Program.
2. In conjunction with the Executive Director, develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures related to the Outreach Program.
3. Supervise the outreach team to ensure effective program delivery and adherence to organizational goals and focus on achieving positive outcomes for older adults in Central Alberta.
4. Foster a collaborative work environment that empowers all staff to use and develop skills and play to their strengths.
5. Recommend appropriate training and development opportunities for the Outreach Team to the Executive Director.
6. Collaborate with staff to identify areas for program improvement and modification to meet clients' needs and make recommendations to the Executive Director to improve Outreach program delivery and efficacy.
7. Serve as a representative of The Golden Circle on community committees, actively participating in collaborative efforts to address issues affecting older adults in Red Deer and Central Alberta.
8. Participate in Health and Safety activities as the Executive Director directs.
10. Maintain comprehensive and accurate statistical data to help meet reporting requirements, ensuring that the Outreach Team maintains accurate and up-to-date statistics.
11. Maintain current knowledge of legislation, benefits, and government programs that affect older adults.
12. Maintains education and knowledge through regular, appropriate professional development as the Executive Director approves.
13. Participates in duties as aptitudes and education dictate, such as:
a. Orientate, supervise and coordinate practicum or summer students as organizational capacity allows.
b. Lead the development of and participate in Elder Abuse initiatives.
14. Understands and acts by the policies outlined in the Society Policy Manual.
15. Represent the Executive Director as needed.
16. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
**Qualifications**
1. Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in front-line social service delivery.
2. Minimum three years of direct managerial and supervisory experience of front-line human service staff.
3. Post-secondary education or training in social service work, counselling, or related social sciences is an asset.
4. Knowledge of Red Deer’s supports and services and proven ability to navigate the social welfare and public health systems.
5. An understanding of the inherent issues that older adults face daily.
6. Excellent interpersonal skills (debriefing, active listening, conflict resolution, de-escalation, problem-solving, and support) are essential.
7. Excellent understanding and experience in creating and maintaining boundaries and supporting staff in doing the same.
8. Demonstrated ability to build a robust team environment with an inclusive, collaborative, and supportive management approach.
9. A combination of practical experience and education may be considered.
10. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
11. Proficient use of computers, Microsoft Office, and other database software to track service delivery.
12. Strong strategically
- focused analytical skills, good common sense, and capacity to provide leadership.
13. Must demonstrate initiative and work autonomously.
**WORKING RELATIONSHIPS**
The Outreach Coordinator will:
1. Report directly to the Executive Director.
2. Work closely with all staff of the Society.
3. Represent the Golden Circle at community initiatives as approved or requested by the Executive Director.
**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**
The regular hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with occasional evening and weekend work as required by Golden Circle events and activities and/or community events and activities.
Travel within Central Alberta is required; one must have a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
This is a contract position with a term from October 2024 to October 2027. It is dependent on continued Grant Funding.
**SALARY**
$33.00 to $35.00/hour for 37.5 hours per week. Benefits are available after six months, and RRSP matching is available after 1 year.
This is a salaried position and is not overtime eligible.
**EVALUATION PROCEDURES**
The Outreach Coordinator will serve a three
- (3) month probation period. If probation is successfully passed, performance evaluations are completed annually.
**QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED**
1. A background in Human Services with a minimum two (2) year diploma in Social Work, Nursing, Gerontology, or psychology, supplemented by related community experience. Equivalencies will be considered.
