D U T I E S
Reporting to the Manager, Global Engagement, the International Student Support Coordinator provides
support to immigrant and international students through transition pathways into and through their
College academic program and employment. The incumbent develops and coordinates the immigrant
and international student experience and transition support strategy aligned with College strategic plans
and the Centre for International Education and Global Partnerships priorities, and implement this
strategy in consultation and collaboration with stakeholders across the College and local and global
industry and community partners. Main areas of responsibilities cover: Coordinate Student Experience
and Transition Support Programs; Immigrant and International Student Advising and Case Management;
Student Employment and Industry Liaison.
- R E Q U I R E D Q U A L I F I C A T I O N S- A Degree in Education, International Studies, or Social Sciences. A combination of education and
- experience may be considered- Ability to maintain effective relationships with student, clients, College faculty, support staff, and the
- external stakeholders or government units- Several years of practical experience in a social service, settlement, career/employment services
- environment with experience advising international students, immigrants or refugees- Demonstrated experience and success working in several of the following areas: cross-cultural

understanding and sensitivity; intercultural training; immigrant and international student
advising/counselling; crisis intervention; immigration, settlement, and cultural adaptation processes;
and program management and event planning
- Excellent judgement and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills including the ability to present information in various
- formats- Established knowledge, working process, and experience of providing support to students and
- immigrants in both pre
- and post-arrival situations- Demonstrated commitment to student/client success and adhering to high ethical and professional
- standards- Experience working with confidential records and knowledge of FIPPA
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to work with vast amounts of
- information and meet deadlines while working under pressure- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently with little or no supervision
- Extensive experience and proficiency with MS Office Applications (e.g. MS-Word, Outlook, Excel,
- PowerPoint) and the ability to learn new software quickly and efficiently- Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous

improvement
- A S S E T S- Experience in working with new comers, including visitor to Canada, international student, immigrant
- and refugee- Experience in career coaching and employment counselling
- Training in Diversity and Intercultural Competency or other Cultural Awareness programs
- Fluent in another language specifically in Mandarin, Portuguese, Spanish, Korean, and Vietnamese
- C O N D I T I O N S O F E M P L O Y M E N T- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
