**Position Overview**: The Facility Coordinator oversees and administers all Student Association space cleaning, and space set up for meetings & events/workshops, space general maintenance, space repairs, and space safety, and ensuring that these spaces are in compliance with all applicable regulations. Recommends to the Operations Manager any space maintenance and improvements needed to ensure a safe, functional, and appealing space. This position is considered a ‘hands-on’ job and will require travel between all the SA locations.

The position demands a strong work ethic, with an ability to balance a heavy workload with conflicting priorities and deadlines amidst constant interruptions and time demands. Skills in team leadership are essential, with a focus on how to motivate, energize and empower staff. Collaborative vision, tremendous flexibility, and a capacity for change are essential.

**Duties and Responsibilities (will include but not limited to)**:

- **Facilities janitorial, monitoring, and general repairs**_
- Supervise the Facility support staff and ensure they conduct effective cleaning of all Student Association facilities including office space, public lounges, washrooms, and meeting rooms, and conduct light maintenance duties (i.e. light bulb and tube replacement, unclogging toilets and sinks, etc.) and occasional exterior work as needed
- Develop and implement a daily, weekly, and monthly schedule for space cleaning, repairs, and other maintenance work in collaboration with the Senior Coordinator, Building Facilities
- Order and maintain facilities cleaning supplies and equipment as necessary and maintain an inventory-tracking sheet for all supplies and equipment.
- Inspect the SA building and spaces frequently for signs of damage or maintenance needs, and develop maintenance, and repair plans for review and implementation.
- Support the JHSC to conduct the monthly space inspections and identify any health and safety hazards in the space while recommending corrective measures to address these risks, and completing needed inspection reports.
- Ensure facility support staff reports maintenance and repair requests on the SA facility management software system.
- Monitor all Student Association spaces and assist students with inquiries as requested and ensure that all space users adhere to the policies of the Student Association
- Collect students’ feedback and space users regarding SA space cleaning level and adequacy for use throughout the academic year using the SA current surveys and iPads.
- Assist Student Association tenants with a facilities-related request(s)
- Work closely with the Senior Coordinator, Building Facilities (SCBF) to maintain and upkeep safety standards
- Set up spaces for SA programming events and workshops as required by programs and ensure night programming/events are supported by facility support staff and GBC security.
- Proactively identify building capital improvement, repairs & maintenance needs and communicate to the Operations Manager in a timely manner.
- As assigned and directed by the Senior Coordinator, Building Facilities, follow up with contractors for building and leasehold improvement ongoing projects, and suppliers to collect quotes, process payments, follow up on order deliveries and manage any on-site work
- support the Senior Coordinator, Building Facilities in managing, monitoring, and tracking the organization’s Assets & inventory ( materials, equipment, and stock ) and Compile asset reports as needed.
- Respond to emergency situations including fire, flood, loss of electrical power, accidents, and lockdowns
- Other duties as assigned
- **Administration**_
- Develop ongoing improvements within the Facilities Department, and bring forward recommendations to the Operations Manager
- Manage and Track the Facility and Janitorial budget.
- Create and monitor facility & janitorial supplies inventory database.
- Develop & update facility vendors, contractors, and supplier’s database for all the SA key facility services.
- Support in maintenance of the date asset database and tracking and support with the end-of-year assets counts and reporting.
- Other duties as assigned
- **Leadership and Management**:_
- In Coordination with the SCBF liaise with various departments, individuals and George Brown College staff, as well as with external agencies, as required
- Ensures adherence to current Ministry and Corporate safety standards and procedures
- Participate in general staff meetings, departmental meetings, and professional development opportunities as they arise
- Full knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Participate in the recruitment and selection of facility support staff as required, drafting position descriptions, and coord
