**Executive Director Approved**: April 1, 2025

**Position Summary**:
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training, managing and retaining a diverse and committed team of volunteers to support the program and services offered by the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization (LSCO). This position requires flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed for events or programs, including Christmas Day.

**Detailed List of Responsibilities**:
To perform this job successfully the individual must be able to achieve the responsibilities listed below with excellence, focusing on work quality, timeliness, and precision.

All LSCO employees are expected to perform responsibilities to meet organizational and funding requirements as directed by mandate and policy.

**Volunteer Management & Support**
- Develop and implement strategies to recruit volunteers from diverse backgrounds;
- Conduct interviews and assess skills to match volunteers with appropriate roles;
- Coordinate volunteer orientation and training sessions to ensure readiness and alignment with the LSCO’s goals and values;
- Supervise and support volunteers, ensuring they feel valued and prepared;
- Alongside Support Services Manager, address any concerns or conflicts promptly and professionally, including ensuring volunteers are adhering to the Code of Conduct;
- Provide regular support, check-ins and feedback opportunities with volunteers which will enhance their continued service with the program;
- Plan recognition events and initiatives (National Volunteer Week) to show appreciation for volunteers.

**Volunteer Coordination for Programs**
- Collaborate with LSCO staff to identify volunteer needs for programs and events;
- Assign volunteers to roles and ensure adequate coverage for all activities;
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of volunteer contributions making adjustments as necessary;
- Provide coverage to the Meals on Wheels program when necessary.

**Administration**
- Develop and maintain accurate records of volunteer hours and contributions by maintaining the database of volunteer information, schedules, availability, and contact information;
- Prepare reports on volunteer activities, participation and impact for management and funding purposes, including the collection and submission of statistics to the Support Services Manager when requested.

**Education & Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education in social work, nonprofit management, human resources or related field (or equivalent experience);
- Experience in volunteer management, community engagement or program coordination (preferable in a nonprofit setting);
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Able to work independently but collaborate within interagency multidisciplinary teams;
- Must have adequate experience and skill with personal computers and office productivity software;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize the needs of volunteers and scheduling requirements;
- Current Criminal Record Check (within 90 days of employment).

- Number of volunteers entered into My Seniors data system.
- Upkeep of volunteer schedule

Pay: From $3,737.50 per month
