Kinesiologist - Ontario Workers Network (OWN)
The Kinesiologist is a regulated health care practitioner who is responsible for assessment of human movement and performance, rehabilitation and management to maintain, rehabilitate, or enhance movement and performance. Kinesiologists are accountable for designing and supervising exercise sessions, assisting in patient/client/family education, and functional abilities evaluation, and promoting well-being within their scope of practice. Kinesiologists work in an interprofessional team environment and collaborate regarding the planning and implementation of patient-centered care across a variety of services. This role also participates in continuing education, quality improvement and research related activities both within and outside patient care.
Regular Full-Time
Rate of Pay: $38.15 per hour - $47.69 per hour
Hours of Work: 37.50 hours per week
**Qualifications**:
- Graduation from an accredited University Program with a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education of Kinesiology
- Master's degree preferred
- Current Registration in good standing with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario
- Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of recent, related experience
- Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, monitoring and
progressing individualized exercise programs
- Demonstrates understanding of adverse reactions to exercise, influences of comorbidity and how these factors affect ability/appropriateness for exercise, as well as implications for monitoring and progression
- Strong problem-solving skills and professional judgement in all aspects of practice
- Specialized knowledge in the field of Kinesiology include anatomy, biomechanics, cardiac physiology, exercise physiology, neuroanatomy, strength assessment and exercise prescription. This knowledge is used to interpret vitals, bloodwork, as well as response to exercise.
- General nutritional counselling knowledge and the ability to conduct Fitness & Health Evaluations
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's vision, purpose and values
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
