**Purpose**

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Safety Officer on a full-time basis. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations, maintaining accurate safety documentation, and reporting on mining equipment repairs.

**Responsibilities & Accountabilities**
- Collaborate with management to develop, update, and maintain safety programs, policies, procedures.
- Conduct regular audits of safety documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Develops and delivers ongoing health and training to all team members; identifies organizational training needs; researches, develops and delivers training on new health and safety initiatives as required.
- Monitor and record safety incidents, near misses, and accidents; compile data for trend analysis and recommend corrective actions.
- Organize and maintain a centralized repository for safety documentation, reports, and records.
- Participate in safety meetings and contribute to discussions on safety improvements and initiatives.
- Keep abreast of changes in safety regulations and industry best practices; suggest updates to safety protocols as needed.
- Reviews employer generated documentation such as hazard assessments, safe working procedures, incident reports, OHS programs and safety management plans.
- Must have knowledge of safety requirements of Alberta, Ontario and British Columbia.
- Responsible for Health and Safety in Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia. Will be required to travel to locations in these provinces.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations, and related health and safety legislation, regulations, codes and standards.
- Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
- Strong research and analytical skills, as well as problem solving and risk assessment skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and maintain accurate documentation.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to analyze data for trends and insights.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with cross-functional teams, management, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to directly field safety issues/questions/complaints.
