**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY**

The Packaging Buyer plays an essential role in the coordination and execution of all activities related to the purchase of packaging components for production needs. Specific duties (including but not limited to) supplier relationship management, driving cost savings initiatives, day to day ownership of supplier data in JDE, controlling inventory levels and tracking component deliveries to ensure they arrive on time and in full to meet scheduling requirements.

This position involves building effective team and cross functional relations internally.

**SPECIFIC DUTIES**
- Keeps all ordering of materials current on MRP system.
- Ensure that all material delivery schedules are communicated to suppliers on time in order to meet planned requirements
- Communicate forecast requirements to key suppliers
- Develops and pursues cost savings opportunities.
- Responsible for project management strategies, ie: Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs, supplier certification, consignment, etc.
- Interface with Quality and Warehouse regarding any rejected/defective materials, making the necessary physical arrangements with the supplier to ensure a prompt return of goods.
- Actively participates on/supports the activities of cross-functional continuous improvement teams, breakthrough initiative teams, and manufacturing implementation teams.
- Responsible for material costing, costing analysis, and providing cost estimates for projects.
- Responsible for in-plant inventory levels (Pkg).
- Provide back-up for purchaser of Raw Materials, as required.
- Diligent tracking of Purchase Price Variances, action and alerting to senior management in a timely fashion
- Review and updating of Purchase Price Standards as part of the budgeting process

**QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED**

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 3 of years relevant Supply Chain Management experience (preferable packaging procurement) is required
- Experience of JDE would be beneficial, ERP system competency is essential
- Project Management or Lean Certification is desirable
- Post-secondary school education in business or supply chain (or relative experience)
- Supply Chain Certification (APICS) is desirable

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: From $55,000.00 per year
