Over the years, Verfa has developed to be a science-driven, innovative and resilient organization with a strong Research, Development and Innovation pillars with a vision to impact in our communities regionally, nationally and globally through producing healthy foods year-round in our unique and innovative Indoor Vertical Farm, located in Truro, Nova Scotia. **Duties** **Marketing** - Conduct regional, national and global market intelligence and identify the trends and opportunities for marketing and selling products and services. - Compile analytics for all digital channels to support ongoing analysis and improvements. - Develop market intelligence strategies and adopt. - Develop marketing, branding and sales strategy. - Develop online presence and social strategy plans for the company and our portfolio of products, including e-commerce platforms, building awareness and engagement with our communities. - Stay up to date with trends in digital media and social media platforms, make recommendations in alignment with the goal to grow our brand presence. - Develop unique brands for all our products and services. - Work with product development and other departments to ensure brand consistency and align strategies for maximum impact. - Trademark registration/or patents for developed products. - Manage and optimize digital marketing campaigns, including performance marketing SEO, SEM, and social media advertising. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute programs and events. - Own the promotion and execution of our events, activities, and related initiatives across all our platforms. **Sales** - Develop sale strategies and regional, global clients’ database - Manage the sales pipeline, track sales activities, forecast sales, and prepare regular reports on campaign and sales performance. - When needed, develop product-wise production and shipping forecasts to assist in production operations. - Build, manage relationships and negotiations with key accounts for the sales of our products and services. - Prepare monthly and annual sales forecast, targets and implementation strategies. - Prepare sales presentations and proposals with sales targets to be achieved. - Manage the details of the ROI for each account, including pricing, margin, costs, promotions, and forecasting. - Develop new opportunities and strategies for growing our business and increasing our market share. - Develop and manage database relating to sale of each product and, clients. - Work collaboratively with the Production and RDI Team and create a circular work environment. - Collect and manage input from our customers on our product quality and concerns. - Recruit and manage sales and marketing team personnel, working with HR. - Prepare an annual report for the Board and shareholders. - Participate in Senior Management meetings, AGMs and others as needed. **Experience**: - Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business management, marketing and sales or closely related field preferred from a recognized post-secondary educational - institution. - Master’s degree in business management, marketing or sales or a closely related field from a recognized post-secondary educational institution is desirable. - 5+ years’ experience in Canadian agri-food market intelligence, marketing and sales, including performance marketing, SEO/SEM, and social media advertising and in-person/direct marketing and sales approach. - Strong skills in strategy planning and execution, market intelligence, data development and analysis, forecasting and analytical skills with the ability to interpret data from Google Analytics or similar tools. - Experience with Canadian marketing, forecasting, project management and ability to adhere to deadlines to meet execution timing and deliverables. - Strong financial acumen, the ability to manage a budget & work with finance to ensure P&L and business plans are met. - Demonstrated client relations building and target marketing and sales. - Experience with e-commerce platforms is an advantage. - Excellent copywriting skills with a keen eye for details. - Strong research skills to stay up to date with industry trends and competitor analysis - Experience in dealing with the complexities of provincial and federal regulation on food production and sales. - Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment - Passion to work in a start-up environment. - Must have a valid driver’s license This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Sales & Marketing Officer to join our vibrant and diverse team.
