**Apprentice Iron Worker**

The **Apprentice Iron Worker **is required to perform a variety of simple to moderately complex material handling including packing and tying reinforcing material, assisting with unloading trailers, and various other tasks. **It is a requirement of this position to become a member of the Ironworkers Local 97 union.**
**Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities**:
- Follow direction of Journeyman
- Packing and tying rebar
- Fabricating horses
- Standing prefabricated structures
- Building walls in place
- Ensure saws receive proper maintenance, blades and have gas
- Assist with setting up and taking down equipment in various work areas
- Unload steel bundles from trailers
- Assist rigger with unloading
- Fill out daily FLRA
- Understand Job Hazards Assessment’s and ensure they are applied in the field
- Ensure good housekeeping in order to perform work safely and efficiently,
- Help ensure work is completed as scheduled.
**Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities**:
- All training is provided however, experience working with Rebar is considered an asset,
- Current WHMIS, and Fall Arrest and is required, or ability to obtain certification (training can be provided)
- An understanding of safe work practices and the knowledge to safely operate the tools of the trade,
- The ability to work at heights,
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team,
- Position will require exposure to heat, cold, wet and/or humid conditions, vibration and industrial
manufacturing noise,
- Physically fit to perform job tasks and to lift up to 50 pounds, and to stand 8 hours,
- Must be available to work full-time (Monday - Friday), Saturday’s are optional.
**Compensation and Benefits**
Compensation and Benefits are as per the Ironworkers Local 97 collective agreement.
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
Supplemental pay types:
- Overtime pay

- Vancouver, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
