The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board (KPR) offers a world-class education for approximately 34,000 students in 87 schools. **MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Organize the transportation of pupils by bus or related vehicle for regular school days, educational trips, summer school, etc.

Oversee co-ordination of routes for school buses and other vehicles contracted to STSCO.

Assist with ongoing use of STSCO’s Operator Performance Monitoring System (OPMS) and Operator Review processes to track and measure transportation provider performance.

Assist in analyzing Key Performance Indicator (KPI) data and reports with a view toward increasing transportation provider performance and busing service improvement.

Under the direction of the Chief Administrative Officer, coordinate and implement organizational continuous improvement methodologies and related initiatives.

Oversee STSCO’s monitoring of mechanical maintenance for contracted buses and vehicles to maintain service and safety standards, including implementation and participation in periodic inspection of bus company vehicle fleets.

Advise school principals of Ministry of Transportation regulations pertaining to school buses and related vehicles, and school bus safety.

Acknowledge and follow-up on complaints and inquiries from parents.

Assist in analyzing STSCO’s transportation system with a view to increasing effectiveness and efficiencies.

Assist with investigation of accidents and incidents involving school buses/school bus drivers.

Assist with annual provision of First Rider safety events for young students.

Assist with annual bus driver workshop preparations and presentations.

Make recommendations for service to new subdivisions regarding road access.

Assist the CAO with budget planning and monitoring and preparing statistical, financial, administrative reports which support provincial government funding calculations.

Participate in making decisions pertaining to bus cancellations due to inclement weather conditions, as needed.

Maintain knowledge of relevant Ministry of Transportation legislation and regulations, particularly the Highway Traffic Act, and ensure compliance.

Supervise the activities of the Route Planning Specialists.

Back-up CAO during any extended absence.

Attend committee and board meetings as directed by the Chief Administrative Officer

Other duties as assigned by the Chief Administrative Officer.

**SUPERVISION**:

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**:
Secondary school diploma; and

Post-secondary, 3 years degree or certificate in transportation or equivalent field of study.

Three to five years of progressive experience in school board transportation.

**SPECIALIZED SKILLS REQUIRED**:
Advanced Computer skills and experience in word processing, spreadsheets and databases.

Advanced report writing skills.

Knowledge of Provincial legislation governing school bus transportation.

Knowledge of pertinent Board and departmental policies, directives and procedures.

A commitment to service excellence.

Contributes solutions to complex situations.

Effective coaching, mentoring, conflict resolution and relationship management skills

Superior written, presentation and verbal skills.

Valid driver’s license and use of own vehicle.
