Facilitator, Essential Skills for Indigenous Early

**Nature and Scope**
The Facilitator serves a primary role in planning and facilitating Essential Skills for Indigenous Early Childhood Education (ECE) Level 1 to ensure successful outcomes within the Adult Basic Education (ABE) department. The Facilitator will be responsible for delivering a specific program according to the needs of the community, funding agency or employer. Working collaboratively with ABE department staff and community contacts, the facilitator demonstrates a strong commitment to create and maintain a creative and positive learning environment and experience for participants. The position includes the following broad range of accountabilities:
**Facilitation and Administration**
- Plan and develop lesson plans in Communications, Numeracy, and other essential skills using the Circle of Learning benchmarks
- Instruct three Early Childhood Education Level 1 Post-Secondary courses: Communicating with Children and Guiding Children's Behaviour, Introduction to Play, and Health, Safety and Nutrition
- Prepare lesson plans and appropriate delivery methods, following the curricular outcomes provided
- Adhere to and promote SIIT policies and procedures
**Client Success**
- Respect, honour and acknowledge the uniqueness of each participant including: their unique languages, cultures, traditions, histories, as well as, prior learning and life experiences
- Create and maintain a creative and positive learning environment that provides the opportunity for meaningful learning and skill development
- Develop and maintain respectful relations through the use of problem solving and constructive resolution of client issues, and if necessary, recommend action to applicable supervisor regarding participant behavior
- Ensure a positive, diverse, inclusive work and learning environment
**Partnering & Relationship Building**
- Network and build relationships with appropriate employment agencies, networks and employers in the community
- Develop a familiarity with the labour market in the region
- Link participants to work placements or volunteer opportunities
