The Bruyère Research Institute (BRI) partners with Bruyère Continuing Care (Bruyère), the University of Ottawa and other stakeholders to conduct relevant and practical health sciences research related to medical education and improving the quality of life for the aging population and people requiring continuing care.

**Function summary**

The Bruyère Research Institute (BRI) in conjunction with the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA) is seeking a Research X-ray Technologist. The CLSA is a Canada-wide study that looks at health and aging over a 20-year period. This is a wonderful opportunity for an individual excited by the challenge of working in research on aging with a wide spectrum of responsibilities. Learning opportunities on ultrasound, ECG and vision scanning equipment will be available.
Main duties and responsibilities:

**Data Collection - _90%**
- Taking physical assessments of participants through the operation of a bone densitometer
- Administer physical tests such as height, weight, ECGs, carotid ultrasounds, hearing, vision tests etc.
- Assist in the collection, entry, and verification of data
- Administer health questionnaires while using relevant research methodology
- Proper handling of all clinical and other research materials

**Other Research Support_ - _10_ %**
- Equipment calibration and document completion
- Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Ottawa CLSA site as needed

Required Qualifications and Competencies:

- Current membership in the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario
- Qualifications under the Healing Arts Radiation Protection Act of Ontario to administer artificially produced electromagnetic radiation with peak energy greater than five kilovolts
- Registered with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists and legally allowed to work in Ontario.
- Ability to work as a member of a team
- Strong time management skills

Additional Competencies (if applicable)
- Experience working on a Hologic bone densitometer is an asset
- ECG and ultrasound experience is an asset
- Bilingual (French/English) in both written and spoken is an asset
- Research experience is an asset
