The Garry Hurvitz Centre for Community Mental Health at SickKids (GH-CCMH) is a child and youth mental health center integrated with the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). GH-CCMH is also a member of the Thriving Minds Mental Health Access Collaborative with CAMH and SickKids and a core service provider in the Toronto sector of infant, child and youth mental health services funded by the Ministry of Health. GH-CCMH provides prevention, early intervention and health promotion services across the city, funded by MOH and other sources. As such, the Center has an ambitious agenda to provide the highest quality, evidence-based care, offering a range of services from prevention and early intervention to counseling and therapy, assessment and intensive supports. Services are offered in person and in virtual format. **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Provides primary prevention services for children and families including developing, planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating services such as early learning activities, childcare, parent resources/training, pre
- and post-natal resources/information and linkages to other resources
- Plans and implements new services, or modifies existing services, meeting needs of families
- Represents the Centre’s parent education services to outside agencies, groups and funding organizations in order to promote preventative/Early Years networks and provide referrals/intermediation for children and families
- Works collaboratively with team members in various community settings including students, volunteers and external partners to support the success of programs and families.
- Trains, orients and oversees the work of volunteers, students and relief childcare staff in the delivery of prevention services, as required
- Attends meetings/training related to innovative prevention services, as required
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of trends, and best practices within the industry
- Ensure the physical environment is welcoming, safe, inclusive and developmentally appropriate
- Makes decisions related to prevention services within established policies and guidelines, as well as refers unusual or unique issues to the Supervisor/Manager

- Complies with the organization’s vision, policies and procedures
- Performs other tasks as assigned by management
**Qualifications**
- Undergraduate Degree or Diploma (Early Childhood Education) and a minimum of three years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Membership in the College of Early Childhood Educators
- Mandatory Standard First Aid and CPR
- Food Handler’s Certificate
- Good verbal and written communication skills to effectively deal with sensitive and confidential child and family issues
- Strong understanding of child development, family centred care, positive guidance and inclusive practices
- Good problem-solving skills to provide life skills training, adult education and group facilitation
- Ability to incorporate values of a culturally competent practice of diversity and inclusiveness in all aspects of work
- Knowledge of MS Office Suites (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and office equipment (telephone, scanner, photocopier and fax)
- Ability to travel to site locations within the community
- Hours of work may include evenings and weekends
**Working Conditions**
- Works in a pleasant office environment including off-site locations
- Exposure to constant interruptions/distractions and stress
- Some exposure to hazards such as falling, cuts and muscle strain from lifting
