Cargo Coordinator

**PURPOSE**:
The Cargo Coordinator has the primary responsibility to coordinate the loading of all pulp, lumber and domestic shipments or export bookings for Coast 2000 Terminals in order to meet documentation and cargo cut-offs in a manner that optimizes customer service and Coast 2000 Terminal costs. In addition, the position provides ongoing support to the Logistics Coordinators desk and the Operations Supervisors when required.

**RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES**:
**Export Operations - Day to Day Duties - **85%**
- Plan weekly loading schedules for all customer orders in alignment with the Operations Supervisors.
- Liaise with trucking companies to organize and coordinate trucking of upcoming domestic and export daily loading schedules and reservation times.
- Assist the Operations Supervisor and Logistics Teams to achieve maximum loading efficiencies with the daily labor plan.
- Liaise with steamship lines for equipment releases to promote maximum use of the Coast 2000 Terminal.
- Request documentation or cargo cutoff extensions as required.
- Liaise with the stakeholder export planners to confirm loading schedules for orders and assist the Operations Supervisors and CSR Teams to ensure timely communications with each customer of changes or challenges encountered during the loading, documentation, and transportation process.
- Liaise with the Logistics departments (pulp and lumber) to ensure all customer requirements are met promptly.
- Liaise with Container Yard regarding equipment releases, equipment availability, space allocation and truck turn times.

**Administration - 10%**
- Liaise with Office Administrator in resolving any invoicing discrepancies on drayage or reservation fees issued by trucking companies.
- Assist in the development and implementation of contingencies for changes or service failures in the supply chain.
- Assist in the implementation of corrective action as required for terminal changes.
- Assist in developing and implementing proposed recommendations and SOP’s to increase operational efficiencies.

**Other - 5%**
- Other related duties and projects as assigned.

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES**:
**Knowledge**
- A Post-Secondary education in transportation, logistics, international trade, or related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of dispatching experience with some experience in container trucking would be an asset.[KS1] [KS2] [KS3] [DE4]
- Knowledge and understanding of the terminal reservation systems and container shipping industry required.
- Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook and Word).
- Proficiency in English is required.

**WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL / SENSORY REQUIREMENTS**:

- This position will require a regular presence at the Coast 2000 Terminal and will require standing and/or sitting for 8 hours per day.
- This position will have exposure to the outdoors, including heat, cold weather, rain, and noise.
- There will be frequent exposure to heavy equipment that is operating in the terminal.
- There is a high degree of mental demand for this position and requires a high attention to detail required throughout the day, ensuring accuracy at all times.

**COMMUNICATION**:

- This position is exposed to rapid changes of operational plans requiring extraordinary communication with stakeholders and customers.
- External communication with suppliers, vendors, regulators, and related personnel will be required.
- This position will be customer facing and will require a high level of professionalism in order to satisfy stakeholder needs and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
