Role Summary
Under the supervision of Production Planning Manager, the production planner plans, prepares, issues, and controls production schedules to ensure a controlled flow of finished products timed to meet customer requirements (forecasts). The Planner also makes sure to optimize manufacturing capacity utilization by properly loading our external manufacturing facilities. Moreover, the Production Planner assures the coordination with the sourcing group responsible to execute the Material Requirement and makes sure any change in Supply & Demand are properly reflected in both our Production and Cut Plans.
Along with their team, the Production Planner is responsible to issue a proper flow of work orders and cuts to production and to align priorities to changing customer needs while assuring proper communication of finished good availability to the interested internal departments (Customer Service, Sales, Allocation, etc.). It’s a full circle from planning of Raw Materials, Issuing the cuts, ensuring the cut panels flow through the cycle, and arrive on time in the warehouse for the target date needed to fulfil demand.
Key Accountabilities
- Analyze forecasts and raise any planning/manufacturing concerns to the Production Planning Manager.
- Build Master Production Schedule (MPS) that meets both customer demand and capacity constraints.
- Assign proper target dates to cuts based on material & manufacturing capacity availability, while respecting lead times and delivery date needed.
- Execute the production schedule on both weekly and monthly basis.
- Analyze demand (sales order) variations and adjust manufacturing schedule accordingly (Momentis, D365)
- Coordinate effective communication with other departments on any delays affecting on-time delivery.
- Adjusts work order start dates and/or quantities to utilize resources efficiently.
- Updates and finalizes resource planning looking 3-12 weeks out.
- Report on on-time performance.
- Utilizes systems in place to retrieve data to make good sound business decisions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred and 2-5 years of working experience in planning
- Excellent presentation skills in front of a group of different people (employees, managers, senior leadership)
- Must be able to quickly ascertain a situation and be decisive in solving it.
- Must be able to manage time efficiently often under pressure.
- Works with a positive attitude, demonstrates confidence and is a team player who works cooperatively and effectively with others.
