Description

The Accounting team is looking for a student to work closely with the team for the Winter period. The Student will be part of a collaborative team of accounting professionals working closely together in the preparation, analysis and presentation of financial information for Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners (BREP). The Student will also participate in the preparation of balance sheet, income and cash flow statements of various entities.

**Responsibilities**
- Assist in the preparation of balance sheet, income and cash flow statements;
- Understand existing processes and propose improvements;
- Review general ledger accounts activities to ensure accuracy and make corrective journal entries;
- Maintain and reconcile monthly general ledger reconciliations;
- Generate monthly financial reports;
- Prepare weekly bank reconciliations;
- Provide support to the Manager in various related activities;
- Provide quarterly audit support to auditor questions and requests.

**Requirements**:

- Currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary program;
- Completed first year university studies in Commerce/Business Administration (preferably 3rd or 4th year with a concentration in Accounting).

**Qualifications**
- Financial/Accounting knowledge and preferably some familiarity in IFRS;
- Advanced knowledge of Excel;
- Ability to “think outside the box”, to work in a dynamic, complex, fast paced environment, to adapt quickly and to manage changing priorities;
- Ability to work independently, solve problems and use sound judgment;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Bilingual (English and French) is considered an asset;
- Knowledge of accounting systems like IFS or Cognos Controller is considered an asset;
- Interest in pursuing a professional accounting designation is considered an asset.
