Human Resources Manager

Northern Gateway School Division (NGSD) is located in Whitecourt Alberta, approximately 90 minutes west of Edmonton. NGSD currently has an exciting opportunity for a collaborative human resources professional in the role of Human Resources Manager. The position is based out of NGSD Division Office in Whitecourt, Alberta.
**The Position**
Reporting to the Secretary-Treasurer, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for providing leadership and vision in the development, implementation and management of a comprehensive human resources program including; organizational design, development and succession planning, the administration of human resource policies, procedures, collective agreements and other terms and conditions of employment, the overall management of human resource operations, human resource information and operational systems, human resource analysis and reporting, recruitment and selection, leadership and employee development, collective bargaining, labour and employee relations, and salary, performance and benefits administration in support of NGSD's mission, values and strategic plan.

- Post-secondary qualification in Human Resources Management (relevant university degree preferred)
- CPHR designation or in progress
- A minimum of five years' experience in a human resources generalist role
- Experience practicing human resources in a multi-site environment
- Experience working with union leaders and local representatives in labour relations matters, including grievance management and participation in various labour management committees
- Experience in collective agreement interpretation, labour relations research, OH&S, contract management, negotiations, and full-cycle recruitment and selection
- Experience in workplace investigations (conduct, harassment, etc.)
- Knowledge of the Workers Compensation Board reporting and claims process
- Thorough knowledge of legislation affecting employers and employees with extensive experience implementing best practices in human resource management
- Experience using computerized human resource management systems, and an advanced level of knowledge using a range of MS Office products
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to prioritize issues, make effective decisions, and coordinate a wide range of issues within a complex and demanding environment
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of staff, union representatives outside agencies and community contacts
A competitive compensation package will be provided including a salary range of $100,000 to $120,000, excellent benefits and a pension plan.
