We are seeking a Quality Control Harvest Laboratory Technician to join our Wine Quality Team on a 5-month contract at our Trius Winery location.
Must be available weekends and overtime during Harvest season. This role is a 5 month contract from August to December.
Reporting into the National Technical Manager, Wine Quality, The Quality Control Laboratory Technician will be responsible for executing required analysis in a fast-paced lab of harvested juice, wine samples and distilled spirits throughout the winemaking/distilling process in an accurate and timely manner. As well as ensuring the Food Safety/HACCP and ABS requirements are met and for providing technical support and assistance to the Winemaking/Distiller, Packaging and National Quality Service Departments.

**We are looking for a teammate with**:

- New grads with the right attitude who are ready to be coached and work hard.
- Science or Wine Industry experience helpful
- Diploma in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or related experience an asset.
- 1-3 years in related field would be ideal
- Knowledge of Chemistry, Microbiology, Sensory Evaluation and ABS (HACCP and ISO Standards).

**This teammate will be accountable for**:

- Responsible for participation in all health and safety initiatives within Laboratories and manufacturing facilities.
- Follow service requirements in a fast-paced Laboratory that meet operational needs of Quality Assurance, Winemaking and Bottle shop.
- Responsible for accurate microbiological, chemical tests as specified.
- Responsible for maintaining HACCP and ABS requirements
- Follow non-conformance procedure.
- Support and participate in all Company and Regulatory objectives and implement within Quality Control laboratories.
- Data entry of analytical results
- Adherence to Quality Assurance protocol to ensure accuracy of all results. This includes routine calibration of all instruments and analyses of national audits.
- Perform maintenance and assist with trouble shooting of laboratory instruments.
- Organize and prioritize work for efficient laboratory operation.
- Ensure all methods are adhered to until new method development is completed before any changes are made.
- Ensure proper disposal of all hazardous chemical waste
- Follow W.H.M.I.S. requirements and provide for clean and safe working conditions.
