Geochem Technician

MSALABS is an experienced global provider of geochemical laboratory services to the exploration and mining industries in Canada, the USA and around the world. We have a rapidly growing network of laboratories in key mining regions around the world to limit lead times and transit costs and we employ the latest hi-tech analysis equipment.

This position will be located at our head office in Langley, BC. The employment will be contracted for a total of 3 months, Monday to Friday, 1:00pm to 9:30pm. After completing the 3 month contract, the position may change to permanent FT or PT.

We are looking for a dedicated and detail orientated self-starter who has the following skills and experience:
**Responsibilities**:

- Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality.
- Responsible for Wet Chemistry digestion parameters including but not limited to Sodium Peroxide and Lithium Metaborate fusions, and Aqua Regia and 4-Acid digestions
- Perform Geochem weighing as required.
- Perform daily calibration of dispensers and has a clear understanding of pass/fail criteria.
- Follow all HSE protocols.
- Maintains hot blocks and hotplates temperature logs and has a clear understanding of the pass/fail criteria.
- Routine maintenance of dispensing pumps and equipment.
- Prepare chemical solutions as described in the relevant SOPs.
- Keep a stock of acids/chemicals in the Digestion room by transporting from the chemical storage room.
- Provide cleaning of the equipment (fume hoods, Hot Plates, Hot Blocks, furnaces, balances, etc.), lab ware, and Digestion room.
- Additional duties as required by Manager or Supervisor.

**Requirements**:

- Able to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
- Excellent communication skills (written and spoken) in English.
- Detail oriented and ability to work well under pressure.
- Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Diploma in Chemical Sciences / Technology or equivalent experience.
- 1-2 years' experience in a wet chemistry preparation facility at a commercial lab is preferred, but not required.
- Must be fit and able to perform the inherent requirements of the job.
