Public Education Coordinator

The Public Education Coordinator is a vital team member who plays a pivotal role in promoting awareness and education on violence against women, fostering community engagement, and effecting change in the context of violence prevention and victim support. This role requires a dedicated, self-starting individual with a passion for research, public speaking, and community outreach. The Public Education Coordinator engages with the community, attending events, and acting as a liaison to articulate the impact, needs, and community partnerships for our organization.
**Position Related Qualifications (Technical, Education, Experience)**
- Bachelor's degree or College Diploma in a relevant field (e.g., social work, public relations, education, or similar), and/or related job experience.
- 5+ years of experience in community engagement, public education, and violence prevention.
- An understanding of issues related to violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, or similar topics.
- Strong research skills to stay informed about current trends in violence prevention and victim support.
- Familiarity with using social media and online platforms for campaign management and public outreach.
- Ability to adapt content for different age groups, ensuring it is age appropriate.
- Proven experience as an effective spokesperson for an organization, building credibility within a community.
- Track record in advocating for a cause or organization's mission.
- Demonstrated success in creating, managing, and updating public education campaigns and materials.
- Strong history of developing and nurturing partnerships with community organizations, experts, and educators.
- Experience organizing and leading training sessions for staff members, focusing on emerging trends and community partnerships.
- History of successful engagement with schools and youth to educate them on topics like healthy relationships, consent, and violence prevention.
**Hours**:21.0 hours per week.
**Rate**:$30.79 per hour - unionized position
Probationary period of 3 months.
