**The Role**:
- You will be the lead office legal administrative professional, and a critical member of our team, involved at all stages of the client’s matter.
- In this role, you will find yourself doing the following:
- Correspondence and telephone calls with clients, especially during new client intake
- Searches and filing with the Land Titles Office
- Searches and filing with BC Courts
- Document management and organization
- Opening and maintaining files, running conflict searches, maintaining calendars and bring forwards and preparing correspondence
- Preparing, serving and filing court documents
- Preparing Lists of Documents and Responses to Discovery Requests
- Scheduling trial dates, discoveries, meetings, conferences and confirming dates with all involved parties as required
- Tracking deadlines to ensure compliance with court limitations
- Assisting with account preparation, checking disbursements, account follow-up, etc.
- Some drafting of standard pleadings
- Mentorship and delegation to more junior Assistants
**Essential qualities**:
- You take pride in your work and pay attention to detail - mediocrity is not in your vocabulary
- You approach challenges as opportunities awaiting a solution - and you will find it
- You are independent and reliable
- Previous experience in a litigation practice
- Familiarity with Supreme Court Rules, documents, practices and procedures and filing deadlines
- Experience with BC Online, CSO and LTO searches and filings
- Strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently, take initiative and be resourceful
- Proficiency in file organization and time management
- Experience in MS365/Sharepoint, MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Excited to contribute to the development of our growing firm and work as part of a team
- Professional, positive demeanour, focused on providing a top-tier client experience
- Legal Assistant certificate/diploma from a recognized program
**Bonus points if**:
- You are familiar with Clio legal software
- You have trial preparation experience
- You have commercial litigation or construction law experience
