The Financial Aid Advisor (FAA) independently provides expert advice and guidance to students (and where applicable their parents and/or families) and develops student educational financing plans through critical analysis of a student’s unique financial situation/needs. The FAA identifies, analyzes and resolves multi-faceted, complex issues; provides advice on accessing federal, provincial and institutional funding sources; interprets/delivers government loan and grant programs; and analyzes frequently changing standards and complex requirements, ensuring compliance with multiple programs. Through optimizing student service and the student experience, the FAA impacts Sheridan’s student enrolment and retention in alignment with Sheridan’s strategic enrolment management plan.

**What You’ll Be Doing**
- Interpreting/assessing student situations and advising on/recommending student assistance programs (e.g. financial aid, awards, bursaries, scholarships, and on-campus employment opportunities)
- Interpreting, analyzing/explaining to students the policies/procedures for multiple financial aid programs
- Evaluating/processing OSAP appeals in compliance with MTCU documentation requirements, OSAP policy guidelines, and appeal criteria requisites
- Analyzing and completing semester withdrawal, bad grades, and full-time, part-time reports in accordance with OSAP and Sheridan policy and procedures
- Working in partnership with Accessible Learning Advisors to resolve issues concerning students’ BSWD equipment and service requirements
- Liaising with a variety of internal and external agencies, including government/agency representatives on behalf of students regarding OSAP eligibility, interim funding, and confirmation of income;
- Performing other duties as assigned.

- A 4 year degree in Business, Education, Finance, Accounting, Social Services, English, Communications or related field of study, along with a minimum of 3 years experience working in an office or academic/educational environment dealing with sensitive and confidential information, meeting Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) compliance and assisting students and other clients from various socio-cultural and financial backgrounds. (Equivalency to be considered)
- Experience developing and delivering training to clients, coop internship students, part-time or temporary workers is necessary.
