**Position Overview**

(Renewable Energy, Natural Gas Distribution, Oil and Gas, Water, Mining, Cogeneration Energy, Chemical, etc.). Aecon Industrial is also known for the pioneering of prefabricated piping services to better manage site labour and the integration of specialized coating systems into the fabrication process.

Aecon Industrial is currently recruiting for a permanent, full-time Purchaser. Reporting to the Senior Procurement Manager, the Purchaser is responsible for providing project purchasing and subcontract support for Aecon Industrial to achieve its procurement objectives.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Purchase materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and services of a routine nature, within established limits and quality, quantity, and price guidelines; items are generally readily available.
- Assess company requirements and determine specifications for items to be purchased.
- Source/research materials for price and quality.
- Provide pricing for estimates and assisting with closing estimates.
- Coordinate delivery and expediting of goods.
- Invite tenders; consult with suppliers and reviewing quotations.
- Select vendors, place orders, and maintain records.
- Establish and maintain contact with suppliers.
- Meet with manufacturing representatives to keep current on new products and their uses.
- Determine and negotiate contract terms and conditions, recommending contract awards.
- Identify the requirements in the prime contract applicable to subcontractors and develop flow downs.
- Determine subcontract requirements for the project and develop a subcontracting plan.
- Source subcontractors, determine interest, and ensure they meet or exceed the minimum EHS, quality and financial requirements of Aecon and the Client.
- Conduct all aspects of the competitive bidding process including assembling bidders lists and packages, issuing, receiving, opening, evaluating, recommending, awarding, and documenting.
- Gather and negotiate pricing and exceptions to the standard subcontract terms and conditions.
- Ensure subcontractors have adequate and current insurance coverage.
- Receive subcontract requisitions. Develop, execute, and issue subcontracts. Input subcontracts into the appropriate information systems.
- Support project leads with the expediting process.
- Provide clients with real time solutions during all phases of the project
- Contact clients and suppliers to resolve issues as required.
- Preparing routine and special reports as required.
- Resolve invoicing issues in a timely fashion
- Assist Estimating department by providing and tracking material quotes associated with job bids
- Ensures purchasing procedures and procurement controls are consistent with corporate policies and guidelines
- Other duties as directed by the Senior Purchasing Manager

**Required Knowledge and Experience**
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical materials is essential
- Completion of post-secondary education.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience within a purchasing department.
- At least two (2) years of experience within an industrial or commercial construction procurement department.
- Completion of the P.M.A.C. Purchasing Certificate program or enrolment in the SCMP Accreditation Program and trade certification related to position specialization desirable.
- Understanding of purchasing principles, techniques, practices, and ethics.
- An understanding of the tools of procurement.
- Proven organizational skills and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced work environment.
- Service orientation and ability to work effectively with a team environment.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with professionals within industry and internal clients.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Solid research skills and commitment to continually learn about new products.
- Attention to detail, mathematical and analytical skills.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint).
- SAP experience an asset.
