**MAINTENANCE WORKER (RELIEF) - AIRPORT**
**POSITION OVERVIEW**

The Maintenance Worker (Relief) is responsible to maintain and service all airfield facilities, navigational aids, and
maintain PortsToronto property in good working condition at BBTCA (Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport).

The Maintenance Worker (Relief) demonstrates professionalism and dedication to ensure safe and efficient maintenance
and a positive customer experience.

**Note: *This is a Union represented position belonging to CUPE Local 416*
**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
General activities and functions include, but are not limited to:
Under direction of Maintenance Lead, maintain and service Airfield facilities and navigational aids, maintain
PortsToronto’s property and installations in good working condition.

Conduct snow clearing, and field maintenance, such as grass cutting, painting, and rubber removal, as well as
respond to various forms of emergencies.

Provide Wildlife Control Duties as required.

Provide vehicle and Airside Security escorts on the airport-restricted areas, maintain security regulations and
report security breaches.

Provide and report Airport Movement and Surface Condition Reports (AMSCR), Inspect and remove Foreign
Object Debris / Damage (F.O.D.) from all aircraft maneuvering areas

Must comply with all PortsToronto policies and procedures including Health and Safety policies, procedures, and
legislated requirements and must wear designated safety equipment/Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Other related duties as assigned by PortsToronto.

**ABILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS**:
Mechanical aptitude; experience working with hand power tools, etc.***

Capacity to recognize and react to equipment malfunctions and take steps to prevent further damage***

Clear oral and written English communication skills ensuring accuracy, understanding, and execution of work
instructions***

Display effective interpersonal relationships - tact, good judgment and reliability required***

Physical ability and strength to do prolonged and arduous work***

Ability to safely and effectively operate specialized vehicles and equipment such as high-speed sweepers,
snowplows, snow blowers, loaders, tractors and other construction and grass cutting equipment.***

Able to lift up to 25 Kgs (50 Lbs) floor to waist
Able to swim or tread water for a minimum of two minutes is recommended***

Basic computer skills**
**CERTIFICATES AND LICENCES**:
Must have a valid Ontario class “DZ” Driver’s License or higher.

Must have an Airport Vehicle Operator’s Permit (AVOP D) or ability to acquire within one month.

Must have a Restricted Operator Certificate - Aeronautical (ROC-A) radio operator’s certificate or ability to
acquire within one month.

Must have a Standard First Aid certificate - or ability to acquire within three months.

Must have a Provincial Firearms License: Possession and Acquisition License (PAL) for bird/wildlife control or
ability to acquire within three months.

Must have a Transport Canada Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) or ability to acquire, to perform maintenance
duties in the airports restricted areas.

**CONDITIONS**:
Criminal record check will be conducted on hire

Annual Driver’s License validity check, as applicable.

Flexibility to work extended hours or weekends, as the need arises

**HOURS OF WORK**:Rotational shifts on a relief basis between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. including weekends
and holidays. Overnight work possible depending on weather conditions.***

**COMPENSATION**: $32.49/hour
