I am an adult male with a physical disability seeking a dependable person to assist with personal care on Wednesday mornings. This shift requires assistance with showering, dressing, grooming, bowel/bladder care, etc. While some sort of previous personal care experience is nice, it is NOT a requirement. The shift can start anytime between 6 AM and 7:30 AM (I’m flexible) and is on average 3 hours per week. Please note that while everyone is welcome to apply, I am 6'2" tall, and history has shown me that individuals under 5'7" tall have a very difficult time adjusting me in my wheelchair due to the height of the wheelchair. This is not so much an issue of strength as it is an issue of height as you need to be able to stand behind the tall back of my wheelchair to help position me. I am an avid traveler, so there will also be occasional all-expense-paid working-travel opportunities (strictly optional). If you have the ability to get away for a week or 2 once or twice a year, this is a huge bonus (but not a requirement). **WHAT DO I VALUE THE MOST IN AN EMPLOYEE? **_Reliability, reliability, reliability_ and _good communication_. I MUST be able to count on you showing up for your shifts. If you are the type of person to call in sick often, or ever, I need you to understand that this simply doesn’t work for me. While I do have 3 other people that do the same shifts as you, this is also a part-time job for them, and they are likely not available on short notice. So I need to count on you showing up for your shifts, even if you might not be feeling the greatest on a particular day. Days off/vacation requests can easily be accommodated with advance notice. Same-day call-ins don't work for me. These shifts are by no means rocket science. If you enjoy any one of movies, concerts, traveling, sports, or Game of Thrones, we are going to get along just fine. : ) If you don't like any of that, I don't know what to say...but I'm sure we'll still get along : D I will be conducting interviews in early January.
