Carpenter Apprentice

The primary responsibility of a Carpenter Apprentice is to perform duties in a safe and effective manner at all times when using any tools of the trade; have a proven ability to read and understand site-specific plans; properly handle job materials including unloading, stacking and relocation of materials; perform an onsite inventory of job materials; build and strip form work; and have experience when working around and with concrete. A Carpenter Apprentice must provide their own tool belt and small hand tools for their use at site including vice grip, crescent wrench, chalk line, carpenter pencil, utility knife, nail-puller, hammer and multi-purpose screwdriver, carpenter square
Employee must be able to work a 10-hour day or night shift. Physical fitness and strength will be evaluated at a field test before hiring. All employees must provide their own transportation to the designated crew pick-up point.
**Required Credentials**:
- **MUST BE WILLING TO SIGN UP IN THE CAPRENTRY APPRENTICE PROGRAM AND ATTEND SCHOOLING YEARLY FOR 8 WEEKSS FOR A 4 YEAR DURATION**:
- BE WILLING AND ABLE TO TAKE DIRECTION FROM A SENIOR TICEKTED CARPENTER SUPERVISOR
- CLASS 5 DRIVER LICENCE
**Responsibilities include**:
1.Reading and understanding site plans for work to be done
2.Maintenance and good housekeeping of tools and work area
3.Inventory of building materials as required
4.Building and stripping form works
5.Working around and with concrete
6.Perform repairs to site buildings if requested
7.Understanding of site emergency response plan
8.Understanding of site environmental response plan, including use of spill kit and any other environmental - erosion control products required
**Safe Work Practices**:
1.A carpenter must be physically fit to perform duties
2.Be familiar with all safety regulations applicable to the site & assigned work
3.Be able to identify site First Aid personnel, muster station & emergency response plan
4.Wear personal protective equipment at all times during shift including:
**High visibility hardhat, Safety toe footwear High visibility vest or jacket**
Hearing protection, Eye protection Gloves
5.DO NOT PERFORM ANY DUTY THAT IS UNSAFE or CAUSES INJURY
6.Participate in all daily safety meetings as required & follow all safety policies & procedures
Competitive salary is paid based on experience.
