**Background**:
The Durham College Mixed-Reality Capture (MRC) Studio was launched in January 2020 to offer industry partners access to applied research and development services, including technical expertise, state-of-the-art facilities and platforms, and student talent. Located at the Oshawa Campus, the MRC Studio offers multisectoral organizations, professors and students from a variety of faculties and disciplines a technology-based, real-time applied research centre in which to build experiences through creative problem-solving, prototyping and digital storytelling. Projects include producing and testing prototypes leveraging Unreal and/or Unity real-time engines for various use cases (including but not limited to game development and asset production, motion capture, training and simulation, visualization and virtual production), evaluating new technologies, and developing new or improved products or processes, particularly for small
- and medium-sized businesses. Funded by provincial and federal government grants, all projects are intended to assist clients in product development, technology adoption, expansion into new markets, and commercialization of new products, services and processes.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Oversee client projects through effective coordination and supervision of project teams and staff, working closely with the researchers and team members to contribute to the scoping and execution of research projects.
- Develop proposal schedules, scope, and create clear work plans and budgets with anticipated outcomes and milestones in collaboration with the Principal Investigators.
- Provide technical expertise, and leadership for research projects.
- Monitor and assess program performance with a focus on key metrics.
- Identify, characterize, and manage project risks.
- Evaluate and improve processes to effectively manage projects.
- Promote and support an environment that encourages productivity, innovation, teamwork, and a high level of quality and professionalism.
- Mentor principal investigators to facilitate effective delivery to stakeholders.
- Identify human resource needs and interviewing / hiring / supervising student Research Assistants.
- Prepare and implement dissemination activities, including assisting Research Assistants in the preparation of final materials/reports.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- A masters degree in digital media, computer science, technology and/or related field.
- Three to five years of relevant industry experience and demonstrated ability (portfolio requested) in fields and technologies relevant to real-time engine project opportunities.
- Previous experience working with research organizations and/or the academic community.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize projects.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to present to a diverse set of stakeholders and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and dynamic deadlines.
- Flexible, self-motivated, and independent worker who also functions well in a collaborative team environment.
- Uncompromised commitment to confidentiality.
- Experience in managing intellectual property and commercialization is an asset.
