We are hiring a People and Culture Generalist to support our HR team. This person will be based in Ontario and will be in a hybrid role that could require travel infrequently to Oakville, Grimsby or Niagara on the Lake as needed.
The People & Culture Generalist plays a pivotal role in delivering comprehensive People & Culture services and support to the HR function, ensuring effective management and continuous improvement of all aspects of the teammate journey. The People & Culture Generalist actively collaborates with the VP of People & Culture, Senior People & Culture Business Partner, and People & Culture Business Partners to implement and enhance programs, policies, and procedures. The position serves as a trusted advisor on leave management, performance management, policy interpretation, and other HR-related matters, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance with relevant legislation.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Partners with the hiring managers and People & Culture Business Partners to manage the onboarding process, offering guidance on best practices to integrate new employees smoothly into the organization. Provides ongoing support to new hires to ensure a successful transition and positive experience.
- Collaborates with and supports the People & Culture team on a variety of programs and processes including onboarding & orientation, learning and development, disability claims management (STD/LTD claims & WSIB/WCB claims) inclusive of document maintenance, recruitment (job postings, applicant tracking, interviewing, reference checking, and offer letters), engagement action planning, talent management, performance management, HRIS, and offboarding.
- Guides managers through the offboarding process, ensuring a smooth transition for employees departing the organization. Supports the documentation of exit interviews and assists with the management of offboarding inquiries.
- Prepares various documentation to support the People & Culture Business Partners (i.e., employment verification letters, change of reporting relationship letters, promotion/transfer letters along with organizational announcements)
- Assists in the preparation of Leave of Absence (LOA) documentation; manages LOA absence files (STD, LTD, Workplace incident management, maternity/parental etc.) including the return-to-work program and process. Provides guidance to managers on managing disability claims and leaves of absence, ensuring compliance with legislation and company policy. Coordinates documentation for STD, LTD, WSIB/WCB claims, and facilitates return-to-work processes.
- Acting as the first line of support for People & Culture inquiries, ensuring that responses are provided in a complete and timely manner.
- AD hoc People & Culture projects, reporting and analysis for Senior People & Culture Business Partner and VP, People & Culture (i.e., policy, procedure and program revisions and implementations).
- Participates in the creation, deployment and facilitation of People & Culture initiatives on a departmental and national scale.
- Prepares and edits organization charts, People & Culture Newsletter and Culture Calendar.
- Additional projects and ad hoc requests may be assigned as required.
- Follows safe work procedures, practices and reports all unsafe working conditions to their reporting manager.

DIMENSIONS
- Total employee base: approximately 1,700
- National support scope in terms of regions and locations
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE
- University Degree/College Diploma in business, concentration in HRM preferred.
- CHRP attained or in progress.
- 2+ years in HR Assistant or HR Administrative role
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. HRIS and/or Payroll experience an asset.
- Proven ability to effectively manage and execute multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
- Proven leadership potential/ability to influence others and build cooperative relationships.
- Exceptional communication and active listening skills.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative on challenging issue
