Wood’s Homes is looking for one (1) Youth & Family Counsellor I to join Eastside Community Mental Health Services for casual employment.
Eastside Community Mental Health Services offers immediate, barrier-free, and equitable mental health services in collaboration with families, youth, and individuals in the community.
Role Summary
Reporting to the Management of Eastside Community Mental Health Services, the Youth and Family Counsellor works as a System Navigator and is a contributing member of the team providing service to children, youth, couples, and families in the community via phone, video, and in-person. ECMHS is open 8 am to 11 pm, seven (7) days a week. Shifts as a System Navigator will be available during these times. The Youth & Family Counsellor will demonstrate due diligence in being Exceptional in the delivery of high-quality services and in meeting the requirements of the Health and Safety Management System at Wood’s Homes.
Wood’s Homes pays a shift premium of three dollars ($3.00) per hour for all hours worked between 11:00 pm - 7:00 am.
**Responsibilities**:
- Responsible for first contact risk management and intakes for clients accessing Eastside Community Mental Health Services.
- Collaborating with other ECMHS staff - including administration assistant, crisis counsellors, clinicians, and management - to develop structured system navigation interventions for youth, families, and individuals.
- Collaborating with internal Wood’s Homes professionals/programs and external community professionals/agencies to coordinate referrals and resources for all clients of ECMHS.
- In combination with relevant case management, responsibilities include supporting clients in-person in a variety of community settings, which could include organizations, medical settings, schools, court or other legal appointments, etc.
- Participates actively in supervisory meetings, team meetings, and retreats, planning sessions, and designated in-service training.
- Completes all required health and safety training.
- Reports workplace hazards, unsafe or unhealthy conditions, or incidents (including near misses, injuries, or equipment damage) to their direct supervisor.
- Executes other responsibilities as may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- Diploma/Undergraduate Degree in the Social Sciences, Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Nursing, and minimum two years related experience, preferred.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Experience in working in the community with vulnerable populations preferred.
- Current proof of professional registration may be required for certain diplomas or degrees.
- Must have a full, non-GDL class 5 driver’s license and own transportation.
