**Child Protection Worker (A Role) - Child Protection Services**

**Temporary 12 months - **Full Time Opportunity - English Position**

NOTE: For the purpose of this posting, the primary function of the vacant position has been identified. The scope of work for positions identified as A, B, or C requires flexibility between the roles. Case assignment will be based on operational requirements and determined by the supervisor.

**The Position**:
Provides investigative and protection services to families and children within established procedural guidelines and time frames as provided by both the Child, Youth and Family Services Act and the Society. This responsibility is performed through appropriate consultation with the supervisor.

The incumbent is also required to maintain client records in accordance with Society and Ministry Standards including case notes, investigations, assessments, plans of service, plans of care, social histories and other required reports. The worker will also prepare appropriate legal documents for cases going before the courts, according to Society and Ministry guidelines. The incumbent will work with multi-challenged youths and families and will be required to work a flexible work schedule to respond to and/or meet the client need and the Society's organizational requirements.

**Qualifications**:

- BSW, MSW or Bachelor’s degree in a related field with relevant work experience;
- 2 years experience working with families and children;
- Experience working with and building relationships with First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples and their communities.
- Knowledge of the Society’s partnership with the local Indigenous service community agencies.
- Lived experience working with and building relationships with First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples and their communities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada Calls to Action, OACAS commitments, recommendations of the Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Report and the CYFSA regulations with respect to Indigenous children in care to redress the legacy of residential schools and advance the process of reconciliation.
- Demonstrated knowledge and respect of First Nations, Inuit and Métis culture, heritage and the historic relationship between child welfare and Indigenous peoples and the intergenerational impact of colonization and the impact of the legacy of Residential Schools and the Sixties Scoop upon them is essential.
- Experience working in child welfare and working in Kinship/Adoption/Foster Care and/or Children in Care roles is an asset;
- Training and/or knowledge of PRIDE and SAFE is an asset;
- Familiarity with all relevant legislation, regulations and standards related to Kinship and Adoption and Children in Care, as well as the Society’s policies and procedures;
- Excellent clinical and assessment skills;
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the culture, history and current oppressions experienced by people related to gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation faced within the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the culture, history and current oppressions experienced by Indigenous peoples and racialized communities.
- Applies anti-racist, anti-ableist, anti-colonialism, anti-heterosexism and anti-cissexism lenses to social problems.
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to work in cross-cultural situations;
- Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills;
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team;
- Superior oral and written communication skills in English are required
