**HOURS**: Four days on, Four days off rotations 8:30am-7:00pm

**JOB PURPOSE**:
To assist with the daily winter season operations of the Drop-In, community engagement, and encouraging clients to participate on a voluntary level in a way that fosters improved social, physical and mental health. Provide clients with access to information, support and connections to services within Boyle Street Community Services and external agencies.
**KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Develop relationships with community members, identifying strengths and working in a respectful way with a community that has faced trauma and social exclusion.
- Offer access to information, support and connections to services within Boyle Street and external agencies.
- De-escalate tense inter-personal and group situations.
- Maintain a healthy environment by performing a variety of cleaning and housekeeping duties as required: sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning/clearing tables, washing dishes, etc.
- Assist community members in crisis and find positive resolutions
- Maintain a relationship with all partners of Boyle Street (Security, Edmonton Police Services, EMS, etc.)
- Facilitate light programming within all community spaces
- Work well within a team and rotate job stations
- Greet community members and leads the effort to develop a warm, friendly, and inviting environment through community engagement, identifying and addressing their immediate
needs, and supporting them through referrals.

**Skills, Abilities and Attitudes**:
- Understand the challenges and stresses facing people who live in poverty
- Treat people with respect and in a sensitive manner
- Knows how to problem-solve with people who face emotional and psychological challenges
- Able to handle multiple demands at the same time; exceptionally well organized
- Listens well, has a calm demeanor, and knows how to solve practical problems
- Possess robust mental health and a commitment to self-care
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel in particular)
**Experience and other requirements**:
- Experience working with Indigenous people and individuals from diverse cultures
- Background in community development, social work, occupational therapy or another related field.
- Current First Aid
- Criminal Record and Child Intervention Checks (results will be reviewed on a case by case basis)
