About Our Opportunity
As a Co-op Revenue Policy Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the administration of provincially legislated tax programs. This co-op position offers a fantastic learning experience for students passionate about finance, taxation and public policy, tax program administration, and economics.
**Your key responsibilities will include**:
Supporting the administration and oversight of Nova Scotia's tax programs.
Assisting in the development, documentation, and maintenance of tax program processing procedures.
Interacting with tax program applicants to provide support and information.
Maintaining and operating large databases.
Conducting background research and analysis on tax program-related issues.
Assisting with tax program administrative and policy reviews.
Producing analysis, reports, briefings, and recommendations for policy, process improvements, and presentations to support senior Department officials in decision-making.
You will report to a Senior Policy Analyst and gain valuable experience working in a professional government setting.
Primary Accountabilities
This opportunity is ideal for students currently enrolled in a University program related to Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline.
**You should have**:
Demonstrated computer skills for data organization, numerical analysis, and report generation.
Sound judgment and the ability to establish, assess, and execute priorities.
Strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and time management skills.
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Effective presentation skills.
**While not required, it is considered an asset if you**:
Are familiar with issues related to Nova Scotia's taxation system, economic environment, government budgets, and accounting.
Have a working knowledge of data analysis and reporting.
Have experience dealing with clients in navigating complex situations.
Qualifications and Experience
This may be the right opportunity for you if you are currently enrolled in an applicable university program such as Commerce, Economics, Business etc.
You also can work independently with little supervision and in team environments. You possess strong organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and displays initiative and resourcefulness with a strong attention to detail.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

This is a Winter student co-op opportunity with a start date of January 1, 2025, and an end date of March 31, 2025.
