**Volunteer and Communications Coordinator**

The Mount Pleasant Community Policing Centre’s (MPCPC) Volunteer and Communications Coordinator position offers a unique and exciting opportunity to play a key role in the continued growth of Vancouver’s newest Community Policing Centre. In this role, you will actively contribute to building a safer, more connected Mount Pleasant neighbourhood by recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers who are the heart of our programs and services.

**About Us - Organizational Background**

The Mount Pleasant Community Policing Centre (MPCPC) is the newest of Vancouver’s 12 Community Policing Centre's, opening its doors in the fall of 2023. With a small staff team of two full-time employees and a growing volunteer base, we focus on local crime prevention programs and initiatives that address community concerns and strengthen neighbourhood connections.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

As the Volunteer and Communications Coordinator, you are someone who thrives on building meaningful relationships with volunteers and fostering strong connections within the community. In this role, you will manage key administrative tasks, coordinate volunteer efforts, and ensure smooth program delivery. You'll work closely with volunteers, community partners, and our staff to keep operations running efficiently.
- **Volunteer Management**:_
- Recruit, onboard, and train new volunteers. Develop and implement volunteer retention and engagement strategies.
- Manage volunteer scheduling and maintain accurate records of volunteer hours and contributions.
- Organize volunteer recognition events and appreciation initiatives.
- Manage and coordinate volunteer team leads and volunteer-led projects.
- Identify and coordinate learning opportunities and additional training that align with our programs.
- **Communications**:_
- Manage social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, X) and engage with the community online.
- Contribute to the creation of newsletters, website content, and other communications materials.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop and execute communications strategies that increase community awareness and engagement.
- **Program Support**:_
- Assist the program manager in planning and organizing community events and activities.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of volunteer programs.
- Monitor and evaluate volunteer program performance, providing regular updates to the Executive Director.
- Coordinate between volunteers, staff and community members for upcoming events and ongoing initiatives

**Assets / Nice to Haves**
- A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is an asset.
- Experience using volunteer management software (Better Impact)
- Fluency in languages other than English
- Experience with graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe), social media marketing or website management.
- Prior experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement, or communications

**Location and Hours of Work**

This is an in-person role, temporarily based at Heritage Hall in Mount Pleasant, offering a minimum of 20 hours per week, and up to 28 hours per week. The role may involve outdoor work and activities at various locations within Vancouver.

Weekend and evening availability is required. While we aim to establish a consistent schedule, flexibility is essential. Staff workdays are coordinated as a team and schedules may need to be adapted based on organizational needs. This could mean occasional changes to agreed-upon days to ensure smooth operations.

**Compensation**

Role Type: Hourly, Part time - Average 20 to 28 hours or 3-4 days per week. Hours include some evenings and weekends.

Compensation: $24.00-$27.00 per hour based on experience and skillset. Benefits are included.
