**Lead Addiction Counsellor**

**Reports To**: Program Director
**Supervises**: Primary Addiction Counsellors and Support Addiction Counsellors

**Role Summary**:
The Lead Addiction Counsellor oversees all counselling operations, providing supervision, mentorship, and support to the counselling team. This role ensures program consistency, clinical integrity, and ethical care. The Lead maintains a presence within the facility, observing client dynamics, supporting treatment planning and supporting staff as needed.

**Lived / personal experience with addiction recovery is an asset**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Ensure client care provided by counsellors is delivered in a compassionate, client centered, trauma informed way.
- Be investigate and aware of client needs.
- Provide direct supervision and mentorship to all counsellors
- Conduct regular case reviews, team check-ins, and peer supervision
- Support counsellors in managing complex cases and ethical concerns
- Monitor group and individual sessions to ensure program fidelity
- Maintain open communication with the Program Director on client progress, staff performance, and emerging issues
- Oversee documentation standards, case notes, and treatment planning consistency
- Model trauma-informed, client-centered, and evidence-based practice
- Support crisis intervention, de-escalation, and on-site problem-solving
- Assist with role coverage when necessary

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum Bachelors Degree in Human Services related field, with other education specializing in Addictions and Mental Health, Social Work, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the field
- Registered with CACCF or OCSWSSW
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and recovery-oriented approaches
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills

**Working Conditions**:

**Compensation**:

- $35-$45/hr
