Mak-a-Mini Childcare is a non-profit society that offers daycare and preschool programs for children aged 1-5. Our vision is to provide safe, caring, and engaging play experiences that support children's creativity and collaborative exploration of their environment.
Mak-a-Mini's programs are based on the constructivist philosophy of learning and incorporate educational technology to meet the principles of Early Learning. The daycare and preschool programs are play-based, guided by child-led experiences, and take into account the age and developmental needs of each child. The programs focus on fostering emotional, physical, social, and cognitive development and use various methods to assess children's learning and development.
Mak-a-Mini Daycare, a newly establishedDayvare, is seeking a dedicated and reliable Cleaner to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for our children, staff, and visitors. This role requires attention to detail, a commitment to cleanliness, and the ability to work effectively within our team. Previous experience in a daycare or childcare setting is preferred.
Major Accountabilities/Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:

- Dusting and cleaning ceiling vents, surface areas, and counters
- Sweeping, scrubbing, and mopping of hardwood, laminate, or tiled floors
- Operating vacuuming equipment; vacuuming and cleaning carpets, with additional treatments such as shampoo or stain removal as needed
- Emptying trash bins and disposing of waste properly
- Polishing furniture and room accessories
- Sanitizing sinks, basins, and toilets in both private and public bathrooms
- Cleaning windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces
- Maintaining and organizing cleaning equipment, supplies, and products for safe and sanitary use and storage
- Ensuring all public spaces are kept neat and orderly
- Completing reports to ensure compliance with daycare licensing requirements

Education and Experience
- 1-2 years of experience in a cleaning or janitorial role, with preference given to those with experience in daycare, childcare, or similar environments
- Strong written and verbal English proficiency.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance in daycare or educational settings is beneficial
- Knowledge of safe handling and use of cleaning products and equipment, particularly in environments with young children
- Basic first aid and CPR certification is an asset

- Reliability and punctuality, coupled with a dedicated work ethic
- Strong time management skills, with flexibility to adjust to changing schedules or routines
- High level of attention to detail in all cleaning tasks
- Organizational skills to maintain an efficient cleaning schedule
- Physical capability to perform repetitive movements such as reaching, stretching, bending, and walking
- Ability to operate a vacuum for extended periods and lift objects up to 25 to 30 pounds
