**Position Summary**:
The Communications Officer implements communications programs and projects for the FNHA, with a focus on Health Benefits program areas. Working with the Senior Communications Officer in consultation with project teams, business leads, and health and governance partners, the Communications Officer provides specialized expertise in the development and delivery of internal and external communications for the FNHA. This may include launch plans, web content, briefing notes, guides, news releases, social media campaigns and marketing materials.

**As a health and wellness organization, the First Nations Health Authority has aligned with the Provincial Public Health Order released on October 14, 2021. We have a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all employees at First Nations Health Authority. This policy requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. If selected for employment, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination by providing a copy of your BC Vaccination Card Passport with the QR code.**

**Responsibilities**:

- Develops and plans internal and external communications services that promote positive relations with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Develops and executes FNHA external communications for major change initiatives.
- Provides oversight on projects and interacts with contractors.
- Provides communication support services for FNHA departments including the development and implementation of communication plans, attending project meetings, and proactively identifying activities that need to be communicated to audiences and stakeholders.
- Provides advice and guidance to FNHA department leads regarding best practices in effective communication.
- Manages ongoing relationships with key business partners to execute communication activities and project deliverables in an effective and timely manner.

**Qualifications**:
**Education & Experience**
- University Degree in Communications or Public Relations, or related discipline.
- 4 to 6 years of experience in communications or marketing or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven track record for executing high quality communication plans and materials.
- Experience working with BC First Nations and communities is an asset.
- Experience in communications for health care, pharmacy or health benefits programs is an asset.

**Knowledge, Skills & Attributes**:

- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a variety of situations and with various individuals and groups.
- Ability to identify concerns, gauge gaps and recommend an optimal approach and build positive relationships.
- Demonstrated project management skills and an ability to partner with and influence individuals and cross-functional teams.
- Creative thinker who demonstrates initiative and flexibility to change, positively rising to challenges presented.
- Comfortable synthesizing complex information to write and edit audience-appropriate information bulletins, newsletters, articles and other materials as appropriate.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects, multi-task, set priorities effectively and problem solve.
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
