**REHABILITATION ASSISTANT (HELP Program)**

**3 Month Temporary Part-Time Contract with possibility of extension**

**Wage rate: $26.27 to $31.72, commensurate with experience**

HELP is the Hospital Elder Life Program which is designed to prevent delirium and functional decline in hospitalized older adults. Our teams HELP RA works under the supervision of HELP RNs and the HELP Coordinator to implement individual interventions specializing in delirium prevention in our slow-paced rehabilitative hospital. They focus on the patients’ functional abilities, mobility, hydration, cognition and therapeutic activity interests. They help patients at high risk or in current deliriums by implementing all program components to decrease and clear the delirium. The HELP RA participates as a member of the interprofessional team in delivering patient services. The HELP RA advocates and educates staff and patients about delirium and can effectively screen patients daily for changes in cognitive status and mobility.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- 2-year diploma in Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) or Physiotherapist Assistant (PTA) or degree/diploma from a similar accredited program such as recreational therapy or kinesiology.
- 1-2 years of experience in a hospital setting
- 1-2 years of implementing patient programs
- Additional certifications in geriatrics
- Experience in geriatrics and slow-paced rehabilitation preferred
- COVID Vaccination (2 Doses) is required to work in our facility
