**About Potash**:
In 2021, BHP approved a CA$7.5 billion investment in Jansen Stage 1 in Saskatchewan, Canada, which is aligned with their strategy of growing exposure to future facing commodities in world-class assets. The project is expected to produce 4.35 million tonnes of potash per year with initial production targeted for 2027, ramping up to full production over two years. Jansen potash project is located approximately 140 km southeast of Saskatoon. Potash opens a new front for growth and is an expandable resource that can support a century or more of operations. Potash provides BHP with greater diversification by commodity, country, and customer.

**Purpose**:
Reporting to the Head of Technology Potash, the **Manager Technology Studies** leads the portfolio of technology studies of internal and outsourced projects as part of the overall Jansen Stage 2 (JS2) Selection Phase Study (SPS) / Definition Phase Study (DPS) Programs, Port & Rail and other future studies as identified by the life of asset plan. The role will provide program study leadership for technology to all integrated team relationships across Potash and Global technology.

**About the Role**:

- Monitors and manages project performance to deliver projects in line with safety standards, requirements, budget, and scope
- Develops integrated project deliverables and integrates project work across projects through interfacing with stakeholders and managing the successful transition of project/phase closure
- Understands the Jansen Stage 1 digital strategy as these technologies will be leveraged and implemented in Jansen Stage 2 design, procurement, and construction
- Leads a Technology team with core capabilities required for JS2 deliverables, Port & Rail, and other future studies such as Clean Electricity
- Leverages the investment in data acquisition and data strategy combined with standardization in JS2 to create significant improvement opportunity using digital twin platforms
- Leverages foundational work done in JS1 in the areas of integrated plan & schedule, global technology standards & patterns, quality management plan, operational readiness playbook and ways of working to incorporate into the study
- Lead value opportunity assessments in high capital intensity repeated equipment areas for readiness in operations and in BHP’s Integrated Operations Centre
- Develops, predicts/forecasts and benchmarks project cost and estimates in line with industry standards, principles and practices
- Explores and iteratively reassesses the best fit solutions, takes ownership of project decisions and outcomes and monitors and manages impacts to value across the project lifecycle (e.g., social, environmental, commercial)
- Develops safe project delivery and contractor performance strategies to maximize portfolio value and enhance improvement and innovation
- Manages contract execution and analysis to maximize operational and financial performance and mitigate exposure
- Defines project objectives/schedules, identifies critical activities, monitors the project plan/schedule, and drives continuous improvement initiatives across projects at BHP
- Identifies opportunities to optimize value, manages associated risks and applies Optimized With/Optimized Without framework principles to create and preserve maximum value from projects across BHP
- Identifies, engages, and manages a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders

- Demonstrates technical and commercial acumen, advanced problem solving and strategic thinking skills that have produced positive business outcomes
- Advanced communication, presentation and report writing skills

Recommended:

- Resources sector, manufacturing and major project experience with exposure to strategy development, investment evaluation and business planning in a corporate environment is highly valued
- Working understanding of BHPs core processes including Corporate Alignment Process (CAP), Global Investment Process (GIP)
- Demonstrated strong understanding of project study methodology and requirements across all stages of project lifecycles
- Risk and uncertainty management and analysis skills
- Commercial and decision analysis skills
