**Athabasca University's Library and Scholarly resources departmentis currently recruiting for the position of**Library Assistant, Course Materials.**

As part of Athabasca University's workspace optimization, this role has been assessed to be **Place-Based**.

This rolecan only be performed 100% in a place-based location in Athabasca.

**The Position**:
Reporting to the Associate University Librarian, Collections Services and working closely with the Manager, Library Information Services, and the Learning & Research Services Team, the Library Assistant, Course Materials contributes to the library's supports for the curriculum and learners, faculty, and staff, through:
The acquisition, cataloguingand maintenance of items in the library's course materials collections
Keeping abreast of all university communication regarding course development and revisions, and the need for course materials
Serving on the Information Desk, interpreting and responding to patron inquiries and requests for assistance
Providing instruction and orientation to students in the use of the library's resources
Supporting circulation of library materials, the library mailroom, and interlibrary loans

**Qualifications & Skills**:
The incumbent will hold a two-year library technician diploma, and three years' experience in cataloguing and information services. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
An undergraduate degree in humanities or other field that involves researching on a library website is considered an asset
Demonstrated work experience using library databases and strong searching skills are essential.
Working knowledge of the licensing of streaming videos to the educational market.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are required.
Excellent time management and problem-solving skills are vital.
A strong commitment towards service to users is highly desirable.
Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office products is important.
Accuracy and attention to details are essential.
